Nope, this isn't about the hairspray we use in our hair... but Hairspray, THE MOVIE!~

It came out on DVD last week... and I got my 2-Disc Shake and Shimmy Edition this weekend... got my mom to watch it and she enjoyed it... Today I watched the 'Special Features' and learned a lot about the movie...

Some fun facts about Hairspray (movie, musical, and movie musical):
~ the main character, Tracy Turnblad, was always played by someone with little-to-no experience in film or what not...
~ Tracy's mom, Edna Turnblad, was always played by a male actor
~ The title of the songs were taken from the "famous lines" from the original movie
~ The movie musical was shot in Toronto
~ Upon the start of the movie musical, everyone in the cast, big or small, came together and they had to go through the whole scrīpt in front of each other; so basically they had to sing in front of everyone!
~ The first step in the movie musical was to record all the songs
~ It took 2 months to learn all the dance routines in the movie musical
~ Then it took about 6 months to complete the filming for the movie musical
~ Ricki Lake played Tracy Turnblad in the original movie

BUT!

The most interesting, yet inspiring, story was that Nikki Blonsky (who plays Tracy Turnblad in the movie musical) is actually only 17 and she saw the musical at age 15 and said to herself that it would be a dream come true if she could become a part of Hairspray... she auditioned for the musical but they rejected her b/c she was too young... Then she saw online that they were auditioning for the movie musical, she tried out and got it... and just before auditioning, she was working at Coldstone Creamery (Ice Cream shop)... they came to her work and told her she got the role... then needless to say, her life has changed since then... and she got to land a kiss on Zac Efron hahaa...

Then I start thinking to myself... wOw, what would it be like if one day I woke up and I was given an awesome opportunity to design / photograph for something that'll pretty much lay the path for my career... or even, if it was a design / photograph opportunity for Raymond Lam!!! or Louis Koo, or Andy Lau, OR... hahaa... the list can go on... hahaa... it would be quite insane, right?

I mean what would you do if one day your dream came true? All of a sudden an opportunity comes right into your hands, how would you deal with it? it's kinda surreal...

wow! that would be very great! i mean i would be very happy if that'll happen. i hope one of these days my wish would come true. if an oppotunity would come knocking on my door, i'll surely grab it before it's too late. God knows what i want. =)

yes, sometimes opportunities just come up and we need to seize 'em!

i've seen the musical... not the movie. it was entertaining and fun =)

Hey janechu, i cant tell you which is my fav, I love the opening and every song likes me more and more, but i think that the one performed by Queen Latifah in the street, with the candles, yes, This is! hehe but i dont know the names sorry, hugss

I haven't see this one but I remember the version with Ricki Lake. That's a great story about Nikki Blonsky. I didn't know that. I think it would probably be kind of surreal for me too if my dream were to come true. I'd probably keep pinching myself to make sure it was for real :)

I grew up with the original, and loved it, I have the OST from the movie!. I really want to get this one too.

I like your thoughts, that would be an awesome experience, i think if my dream of becoming the next JK Rowling came about I would be in seventh heaven, free to live how I want and have people love my writings, it would be fantastic!
