Whenever they ask me “when are you going to see yourself being married?” I answer them wittily with “I can’t even picture out who my future groom will be & you’re asking me that already?”
Sure, seeing happy couples make me smile, & watching romantic movies make me daydream on what it's like to be in love, but then, in reality, I can’t imagine myself being married. Why? Perhaps I’m just so used & contented w/ my life being single. I've never been into a relationship.. ever! (Okay, that’s a revelation). I turned down every guy who will propose his love for me, telling him that he’s just infatuating ‘coz I know & feel w/ certainty that we’re not meant to be. And yes, I’m always right about that. Some of them are already happily married. I also consider the thought that it'll be unfair for them if I wasted their time & effort for nothing..
Sometimes I wonder if I were only a Christian/Catholic, I would have entered the convent long ago. I’ll even be more satisfied w/ my life serving God with the rest of the single women (nuns), than living a normal life & not married. it's kinda annoying when some people, even your parents may be, will keep on guessing when you’re going to tie the knot. Some people will even wonder why you’re not married yet, sympathize on you that soon you’ll be next, & even suggest on matching you up. Argh!
As you can see, I don’t like being dictated, if one day (God forbids!) some of my relatives or friends will match me up w/ some guy, even if he’s almost perfect, I would never approve of it, not unless he’s the one who has the intention to know me.
Maybe I’m happy living this way. I know I’m a hard person to live with, I got my mood swings, temper, & I always want to have my own privacy & time, that I think I wouldn’t be able to adjust in a life w/ someone whom I’m going to live with for a lifetime w/ all my quirkiest attitude.. (do you think he'll ever keep up w/ me if even in the middle of the night I'll wake him up just to kill a cockroach?)
There are those who picture themselves in the future being married w/ kids, but me? I see myself not married but having hundreds of children! Well, I have this wildest dream of having or volunteering in an orphanage or foundation for kids.
Funny thought that I have is that I don’t w break the sequence of status within my two closest friends & me. One married w/ a 2 - year old daughter, my best friend who got married this year, & I, the single one. Haha.
Am I planning to live as a spinster forever? well, maybe yes. however, I’m not closing my door on the possibility of having someone, & as the song goes “when I fall in love it will be forever, or I’ll never fall in love”.
Same for me....I've not held my relationship for more than 2 months. Heck my first ever real relationship with someone was also my last! That was over a year ago, and I'm happy staying single.
There is however a thought I'd like to share with you. And that is, enjoy the time that you are single. Because (I believe) every person eventually will find their love, and they will never always stay that way. When you appreciate being by yourself, when someone eventually enters your life in future, you will be even more appreciative of them. Because you will be blessed by their very presence. This is the true way to having a long-standing relationship.
My parents have been married for over 30 years and are still as together as the first day they married - as best friends from school. People used to ask my dad at work 'You still with the same girl?'. He said 'Of course - she's my best friend'. :) There's nothing better than having a really long-lasting relationship with a best friend.
I admire you a little bit more after I got done reading this blog.
I have dated girls and knew that we were not a good match. Nothing wrong with (most) of them but just that we were not "meant" for each other.
Now I am single and I think I enjoy it a lot more than I was not.
One of my friend used to say " I wont ever get married"..now she's married and already producing children ha ha ha ha
wouldnt that be nice if we have this antenna and it goes "dwaallfff....there go the one u gonna spend the rest of the life with" ??
ha ha ha
so i'm not the only one? or am i allowed to say i've never been in a relationship before? i can't really define what status i was in previously...honestly i will not define any of them as "in a relationship" according to my definition, yet many people consider them to be relationships...
whatever...i don't really care...i'm just happy being what and where i am...=)
Goood...stay true to yourself...forget what the Haters and Expecters of the world wish from you...like what stake do you have in their life decisions? haha...like would you go and tell 'em NO you are...I forbid you from having that chocolate Ice cream...or you're not allowed to have an abortion...or YOU cannot go out on a date with that person...or Your husband is an asshole who keeps cheating on you...hitting on me...haha whatever the thing maybe...it's not like you go and butt into someone else's "biz-nizz" haha...so kindfully, respectfully "butt" out of mine haha...that would be so cathartic...
"i never have been in a relationship, ever." i do appreciate you to said such thing, as it's my situation as well. but sometimes i just felt ashamed to say it out when all my friends have their sweet lover. "when I fall in love it will be forever, or I'll never fall in love". i love it! so i do believe such a eligant young lady like you will find the forever love. best wishes!
I am tired of hearing lines like 'Your nephew thomas will be married before you' and 'When are you going to settle down and have a family'. Marriage is a beautiful gift, for people who want it, but I honestly don't see me being married, ever, I love being single. My Aunt is 61, she loves being single and boy does she look good for her age, compared to the married ones!!!
Nothing wrong with being single. Relationships aren't something that should be forced or rushed and everyone has a different path to fulfillment and happiness.
i'd rather be single (happy or unhappy) than unhappily married!!!
oh yeah, BTW, love the songs from your most current blog. i've always wanted to ask you if you know this love song that has the followings lyrics in its chorus: "Love is all I see (feel?) when I'm with you."...?
i'm so like u~! but my problem is my parents give me pressure abt not dating or having any bf to a point that they think i'm "abnormal"~ it's a really harsh situation on my recently...
