It's Official I'm Tired of Snow!

Mind you I do love winter...for a while. I love the look of fresh snow when it sticks to evergreen trees and I love to walk outside while the snow is falling as it muffles sound and makes the world so pretty and peaceful. But ever since Thanksgiving there have only been a day or two where I have seen grass! It has not piled up much, but it will melt down a little then snow again! As I look out my window, it's snowing...again.

Why did I leave Southern California??

Oh yeah...the weather in Antelope Valley was boring! 

Well it is. There's only one way to know what season it is up in Lancaster California. By looking at the tumbleweeds. If the tumbleweeds are green it's spring. if they are brown it's summer and if they are tumbling around (and they can be as big as cars!), it's winter. Otherwise it's dry and windy there all year long.

At least here in Western NY we get real seasons. But winter seems like the longest one! Plus there's lots of wildlife. (No not the college students at RIT) In just one day I saw deer, wild turkeys, and hawks. Near lake Ontario bird lovers have reported a new, really big nest built by a pair of bald eagles. And pretty soon, a pair of peregrine falcons will return their nesting box perched up at kodak tower. So spring is coming. My usual first sign of spring is not the return of the robin, but turkey vultures! I'll be watching for them and I'll keep you posted!
