More ramblings, this blog is like a journal for me...

So, Angie and family leaves...then a super long day at the office. During that long night, I had received a call that my cousin had just passed away. I was in major shock as he was a person that seem so strong, but he had an illness that was so fast, that his family didn't even have a chance to let many people know. I still can't believe it. He's about 10 years older than me, but he strong as an ox! Usually, I am sad with these things, but this time, I've not had anything like this hit me before. The reason was, I couldn't stop thinking of his kids. He really just started his family, a 6-year old daugther and a 4-year old son. The family had not told him that his daddy isn't around anymore. That's so hard. When situations like this happens, it does make me slow down a bit and puts many things into perspective for me. I really do enjoy spending my free time with my kids. The wifey and I both feel the same way. We've had many friend telling us that we need to take a break from them, but it's funny...we don't feel that need to do that. Is this weird? I don't know. But I do know that I'm really happy just watching them play and laugh. During my younger years, I couldn't understand this feeling when I hear it from others, but now I truly can.

Moving on...Thanksgiving comes and we drive to my god-sister's home, it's an annual visit for us and the food is incredible. Two turkeys' prepared differently, and the cranberries to be selfish with. It's a pretty huge gathering, but fun and very cozy.

We eat and eat and eat...the wifey had at least twice the amount I had. She said this year, she's not going to be shy about turkey. At least she didn't have to drive...I don't think she can handle the overdose of L-tryptophan.

The kids had a great time with their dogs, who were way bigger than our son, but so behaved and trained.

Friday, we get our tree. We didn't go out at 2am to get in line with the others out there just to buy a $99 computer (but I'd think twice if there was a digital SLR on the super cheap!). As the wifey did a lot of the holiday shopping already (yes, she refused to rush at the end and during the past years, have committed herself to early shopping), we didn't have this need to join the herd of shopping cattle...er, people. We find one that was listed as a 5-6 ft tree, but when we go it home, it was close to 7ft...good deal, but our base wasn't mean to hold it...but we made it fit. :)...more on this later.

Sunday, we started to decorate the tree. First, the wifey puts up the lights, then when the kids woke up, they helped decorate the tree. It took a while, but it was fun watchin the kids help. They had a blast. With our lucky dragon on the treetop, it's done!

The standard family by the X-Mas tree photo. How many times have you seen this kind of pose? Anyways, we're now set for the holidays. A few more late nights at work had kept me from writing here and reading your blogs. That's my next step...trying to catch up on all that has gone on here at AnD during the past 3 weeks. Thanks for reading!

Now that's a nice tree.  I love how you all decorate it together.  Your wife definitely has the right idea about shopping early.  Makes holiday time alot saner.

Sorry to hear about your cousin.  A loss like that can really put things into perspective and make you count your blessings.
