My sister and my mom drove up to Berkeley this past weekend to attend some orientation program for incoming freshmen and came back last night. On the way there, my sister called me and asked me to go accept the awards she was getting at Senior Awards Night, which was yesterday. I told her that I don't want to go and I had plans, which was true. Dinner with friends that I haven't seen in awhile and the Laker game was definitely my top priority. Also, if memory serves me right, even if she wasn't there she'll get the award (whatever plaque or certificate) delivered to her the next day in homeroom. At least that was the case when I was in high school. However, she had the idea that if someone wasn't there to accept the award for her she wasn't going to get it. So of course, being the good older sister that I am I went to Senior Awards Night.

At around 5:30 I marched into the auditorium at my old high school and took a seat in the front row next to the door. My sister was up for two awards and one scholarship. Two of which she had already received last week or something. Guess what? Since the Laker game was on, a bunch of students who were receiving awards decided to stay home to watch the game. Who can blame them? Well I was just about to leave when the principal called my sister's name. Guess what? He went on to announce that she was not going to be there to accept the award because she was on her way back from Berkeley? They knew she was not going to be there. I was going to just sit quietly and then sneak out in another couple of minutes. Well another girl that was receiving the same award walked down toward me and asked me if I was going to accept the award for my sister. I'm thinking...who are you and how do you know that I am Connie's sister. Well when I turned to look at her, I saw a whole bunch of other people (parents and students) looking at me and waving. I'm thinking...do I know you people? So I thought fine I'll go get the award. So I walked up to the stage and announced nicely that I was Connie's sister and that I was an alumni also from Class of 2001. Then I had to stand up there and take a picture with my sister's plaque. The weird thing was that I looked at the audience and there were people waving at me still. No they were not waving at the other girl that received the award, I'm positive they were waving at me because the auditorium is pretty small. I'm thinking the whole time...who are you people and why are you waving at me with such a big smile on your face?

Anyways it's my bed time. Good night.

    GO LAKERS!

Yes, it's really strange when someone know you and you have no idea who they are.

You know you two look almost identical. haha. Your sis is a smart chick! It's funny how she thought they'd take her award away (and give it to someone else -Nooo!) if she wasn't present. That's, uh, not exactly very smart. Don't tell her I said that. haha. ;D

Anyway, if she had arranged everything before she left, you wouldn't have had to deal with those unwelcome smile and waves. ;P

So who won? What's the big deal about b-ball right now anyways?

Because you're the famous RENREN and create excitement wherever you go!

Congrats to your sister.  Awards are nice.  And then they're stored away.  She'll have a new life starting soon.

    You're a good sister.
