    Random Dream
Last night I had a really random dream. I was going to marry one of my coworkers. Let's call him LP. In reality, LP is already married. In case you are wondering, I don't have any feelings whatsoever for this guy. Anyways, in my dream, the ceremony was held at one of the monorail stops at Disneyland. As far as I can remember, the dream started with me pacing back and forth in an empty bedroom waiting for my parents. My mom walks in with her casual clothes on and tells me that all my friends and family had either forgotten that I was getting married or just didn't have time to come. I didn't start to cry or anything. I just calmly told my mom that since she didn't even bother to put on something nice, she would just go home too. After my mom leaves I started to have doubts about whether I should be getting married.

A few minutes later, LP's friend comes into my room and tells me that the wedding is about to start and that I need to go outside. The wedding music starts to play and I noticed that the people attending the ceremony were all of my college friends that I don't really talk to anymore. It's funny that I didn't see any of my other coworkers there. As I walk down the aisle I started to tell myself...I can't get married. I can't get married. I'm too young. So I started to look around for a way to escape. When I get to where LP is standing, he holds my hand. The priest starts to talk and I see the monorail train coming over to the stop. Just as the priest ask "are you willing to take..." I shake my head and said "no...I can't. I'm sorry." I run into the train just as the doors were closing.

I get off at the monorail train at the stop in California's Adventure. I started to run, but wherever I ran, I ended up back at the same stop I got off at. Finally, I think after what must've been the 4th or 5th time I running back to the stop, I see LP getting off the train. Behind him were some of my college friends. They pull me back into the train and asked me what was wrong. I turned to LP and tell him that I can't get married. I'm too young and I am not ready to settle down. There are just too many things to do that I haven't had a chance to do yet. I want to date more guys before I get married. Also, I don't want to get married when none of my friends and family were around. Some of my college friends said that I was being too straight forward. So I told them that I rather tell LP the truth than lie to him. Then I woke up.

I doubt that there is any type of significant meaning to this dream aside from the fact that I don't want to be committed to anyone or anything. I just thought it was random that the guy that I was marrying was this dude from work that I rarely talk to and that his friends were my friends from college that I don't talk to anymore.

    I-Kids Reunion

Last night I had a little reunion with some of the kids that I was on an exchange program with at the Chinese Univ. of Hong Kong. There was a pretty good turn out. We had dinner at this hot pot place. OMG! It was so hot! I didn't even feel like eating anything. We ordered a lot of food and I think all I ate was a mushroom, tofu, a slice of onion pancake, and a piece of lamb. It was fun catching up with friends. After dinner, some of us went to sing karaoke at this place in Alhambra. I thought it was really weird that this place didn't serve alcohol. Karaoke is just not as fun without some drunk people around. I think this is the first time that I've been to karaoke where most of the songs that people picked were English and they had the real music videos for the songs instead of random scenery and people running around in 80s clothes.

It's so weird when someone whom you don't really interact much with shows up in your dream.  The dream seems to just confirm your conscious feelings on the subject of commitment.

You tell it like it is in your dreams too!! it's a good quality to have.

I like it when people get plastered, and have no idea that they're singing 'I got you babe' with their best friend, Karaoke just doesn't seem the same without alcohol.

They're not usually random.  Most of my dreams are traceable to something that happened during the day or days past.  Was there talk among the HKCollege friends about marriage/commitment?  You were also recently feeling a bit guilty about not keeping up with friends' emails, etc.  Maybe your brain is doing a check on all the other people out there with whom you've lost touch.  I think the brain works overnight to categorize all your experiences, to store them in a way that makes connections, kind of light a midnight shift filing clerk.  That's to me is why some of the associations are so random.  If that makes any sense to anyone other than me....

A nice-looking group. Bizarre dream. Underlying message is, er, you're not interested in a commitment now...or you are interested in a commitment now. haha

Interesting that you bring up this thing about commitment and also about old friends who you don't talk to anymore. I think it's related. When I think of my college friends, I had a few years where I needed to break from them, and it was so hard b/c I felt so guilty about it. But I felt that even in terms of friendship, I was not ready to commit to anyone at that time.

  • Super straight forward and blunt. I'm the friend that tells you that you look like sh*t at the end of a long day at work (and then I help you fix your hair)...
