I'm on a flight in less than 24 hours, heading back for a week in Melbourne for the first time since Christmas. It's been the typical hectic scurry to get things ready. Delivered episodes 2-5 of 《老外来了》 to the CCTV6 programming folks just before the national holiday. I could tell from the chaos at the post house that everyone in town was trying to get all their stuff done before the break, me included! Traffic in the city the week prior was probably the worst I've ever seen. Walking was faster than driving! I've also just posted up some rough pictures from some of the 老外shoots, do check it out as fellow ANDer Thomas Lim appears in two of the episodes! October is going to be a unpredictable one in terms of domestic TV scheduling. Not only do we have the special programming for the 国庆节, but the people's congress means that a lot of regular shows will be re-shuffled. Will be a topsy turvy month!
There'll be a few things in Melbourne I'd love to do if I have the time, simple things you just can't do here:
Buy a sausage on the street at the local charity sausage sizzle, get extra onions!
Grab a copy of the saturday paper and spend all day reading it, munching throughout the day.
Go out for dinner with a friend and bring your own bottle of wine, haven't done that in ages.
Listen to the radio driving the car along a coastal road, put the window down so you can smell the sea.
Hopefully I'll get to do one of these things! Back in a week!
