  • Implants, are they worth it?

OK, some of you may be aware that for the last few days in the shout box Dr Gordon Chiu has been talking about Greener Sex and that he interviewed Jeff Hammond, that porn star guy. Well if not, you can read about it here and listen to the interview.

Yesterday, Gordon mentioned that some of the models that work with Jeff have been training themselves up. By that I mean their bodies, building themselves up, I guess, to be basically female versions of him. Why anyone would want to do that is beyond me, it looks dreadful!!! Anyway, I made a comment about the fact that their boobs look fake. Apparently, with some of them they are. Gordon mentioned that some of the women thought it would look better to have implants, how they came to that conclusion is well out of my range of comprehension. For pictures, click here. But I can understand why you wouldn't want to look.

Talking about boob implants instantly reminded me of an email with a certain picture that I have received a couple of times from either a family member or a friend and is probably still circulating E-mail inboxes as we speak. I'll get to the picture in a minute.

Gordon said that I should blog this with my opinions on this topic. So here it is. Sorry if anyone finds this boring.

I am sure that some of you have contemplated getting a boob augmentation or perhaps a calf implants to make your calves look like they actually exist and possibly to make your legs look sexier. Or maybe you have deliberated over getting a chin implant or some such other thing.

Upon thinking of undergoing the afore mention procedures, did you happen to think about how you might look a few years down the track? No? Well maybe you should. While you are young and your skin is elastic and can bounce back, getting such things like boob implants or chin implants may look ok and not out of place and will improve your looks. Unfortunately, as there is no such thing as this ever elusive "Fountain of Youth" that people so desperately seek, and no-one, no matter how hard they try, looks young forever. The skin starts to lose it's youthful elasticity and begins to sag and wrinkle. One thing that people who get implants, of whatever kind they choose, fail to take into consideration, is how it's going to look when everything 'goes south' with no chance of return.

Mostly people get implants to improve upon their image. They may want to actually look like they have a chin, or they may want bigger boobs because they think that either they'll look better or they'll make themselves more desirable. Personally I don't see why people bother. They may not look perfect, but hey, no-one does. Not even the botox and collagen injected, silicone boobed models look 100% perfect. They still have their flaws and imperfections. There is no such thing as perfection. There will always be something you are unhappy with and want changed. As Australian Bushranger, Ned Kelly said just before he was hanged; 'Such is life.'

Nothing or no-one was meant to be perfect or we would have been born that way. We have evolved and developed over time to be what we are as we are now. As time goes on we'll continue to evolve and develop as our environment changes so that we can adapt to it and survive. That is, if we haven't destroyed it.

So, I don't see why people want to strive for something they will never attain for as long as they walk the planet. It seems rather pointless and you can only enjoy it while you're living anyway, unless you believe in life after death. People should be happy with the way they are and accept themselves just as they are. They may not think they are perfect, or pretty, or sexy, but there is someone out there that will like you for who you are. The people that don't like you and can't accept you for who you are and what you look like, aren't worth wasting time with. I can understand if someone was horrifically maimed through an accident, illness such as cancer, or they were born with a deformity and want to look more like other people. But doing something just because it makes you look better is, in my opinion, extremely shallow.

I am not perfect, I'll never be a model. I'll never be rake thin, nor do I have perfect skin. I don't have a nice body or big boobs. I don't think I'm pretty or beautiful. However, I am happy with the way I am, regardless of the fact that I could be fitter. And I don't see why people can't think the same things and accept themselves for who they are. Looks are only part of a person and it's not the only thing that people look at.

Now if you're thinking of getting some kind of implant or know someone that is perhaps they should take a look at this picture:

Ignoring the fat, old bloke in the budgie smugglers if it's at all possible, look at the woman in the middle of the shot. At one stage in her life, she may have looked rather quite attractive and those implants wouldn't be so noticeable. As she has gotten older and her skin has sagged, she looks a fright!!! It's like she has melons under her skin. Disgusting, huh? I suggest, that unless you want to look something like that old lady, you really think about whether you want to look like this. It's all well and good to say 'I'll get them removed', but the skin would have stretched and it won't go back, and then it'll have to be removed. The scaring would look somewhat unsightly. Procedures that may work when you are younger to minimise scaring, may not be as effective once you are older as you don't heal as well as you would if you were in your childhood or 20's or 30's.

Maybe those women that work with Jeff Hammond might want to look at that picture along with other people wanting to get implants, they may think better of it. If they don't well it's up to them, but I surely won't envy how ridiculous they'll look when they get like that woman in the picture.

Beauty fades, but breast implants last forever!
