    What bags do you use to store/carry your camera?

    I recently purchased a DSLR camera (Canon 450D/Rebel xsi) and have found that it's difficult to carry out everyday.  It's too big for my everyday bag so I always end up carrying two bags or one big handbag so that the camera can fit in.  I'm used to carrying my tiny point and shoot everywhere.  It's so easy to just drop in my purse and head out. 

    I store my point and shoot in a silver case similar to this one:


    and my Rebel xsi in one similar to this:



    I'm curious to know what bags you use to keep your cameras.  I've been looking at the camera bags but they all look like CAMERA bags....!    I would love to find a camera bag that looks like a regular bag that offers protection for the camera and allows me to store my regular stuffs (keys, purse, cellphone etc.).  After looking around several sites, I found 2 types I like:

    The Crumpler 5 million dollar bag


    Lowepro Terraclime 100

    I'm leaning towards the Crumpler because it seems to offer more protection for my camera. and looks like a regular bag.   What do you think?  Any other suggestions for camera bags?

    how do you like the 450d?  i was also thinking of getting the 40d...though the 50d just came out, but that seems really expensive.  Did you look at the nikons also?

    mrAC is a big fan of photography/ cameras and he has a few different camera bags. sorry i can't help you because i don't know any brands. we even have a low-humidity storage fridge for his camera gear, that's how hardcore he is! ;)

    yes I know... camera bags are very "fashionable" hahaa... but I only have a P&S so I just use a small little pouch (like a coin purse) that I found for a cheap price. hahaa... it sucks that it doesn't offer much protection, but I'll just have to be very careful.. hehee...

    hmm... the Crumpler looks like a good bag... I know Lowepro makes really good camera bags, but they don't look unique... =T good luck on your camera bag find... be sure to share with us when you do... =)

    It's true, Butter is stylin', but for us mortals, we need bags.  Unfortunately, the manufacturers have yet to make the perfect bag.  I know this because I have been looking for years.  Still, you did find one of the bright spots in over-the-shoulder camera bags.  Crumplers are good, look less nerdy than most and provide as much or more padding for your gear than I've seen in other major brands.  Drawbacks, it is over-the-shoulder.  I have a slightly larger version and except for social events and weddings, I leave the damn thing at home to collect dust.  As Michael said, it will mess up your back eventually.  If I take it out for a couple of hours (wearing it the whole time), I find myself in need of a massage.  The other major complaint I have is the velcro.  There is enough that it makes a lot of noise every time you open it; problematic in some locations.  That could be cured by covering some of it or just through wear over time.

    Most of the time, I use a backpack that Lowepro makes.  They make several different ones, but those might be too big for your needs.  Still, worth checking out if you find yourself in a decent sized camera gear store.  Warning, Butter would not approve of most (if any) of them.  They tend to be ugly.  

    My advice, go for comfort, especially if you will be out with the thing all day and if you plan to buy additional lens and accessories.  If you will not, then a small over-the-shoulder bag may not be so bad, especially if you intend to wear your camera around your neck, where it belongs.

    I don't use a traditional camera bag cause I think they're kinda ugly and I'm kinda style conscious :P  I just happen to tote fairly large purses that my cam fits into.

    hello! i carry my dslr around in a backpack... and style aside, i'd really recommend that. carrying something even with the of weight of a dslr on one shoulder will cause u lots of back/shoulder problems later (and i've experienced that!).

    but evidently a backpack is not as stylish... so in that sense, all u need is to buy those velcro type cloths that wrap up the dslr, and any bag will do, and that's enough protection! any camera shop should have those.

    I only have a P&S right now. Plan to get a new Olympus ps. Also plan to get a Nikon D60...which comes with a bag? I think for a woman to carry all her stuff along with her SLR, a larger handbag would be good. However, the 5M bag looks good too - over the shoulder, around the neck.
