  • Counting change....

    During my last trip to Miami, I almost got short changed TWO times at TWO different stores.  When I finished paying for my stuffs at the first store, I checked my change and it was short $5.  I brought it to the cashier's attention, and she gave me back without checking.  The second time I was waiting in line to cash my selections when the cashier told me to cash at the second cashier (right beside her).  When I went over to the other line, the second cashier left the cash register  and walked away.    Then the first cashier came over to the machine and proceeded to cash my stuffs.  I paid for the stuffs and she handed me back my change, after checking I realized it was short $10.  I told her and without looking at my change she went over to her machine and took out $10 and gave it to me.  Very strange..... both times the cashier just gave me back without even looking over my change..... maybe they knew they short changed me?!  It makes me wonder how often these things happen.... whether intentionally or not.  I now make it a point to check my change before putting it in my purse.  It's not the money but more the principle that matters.

    Do you guys always check your change?

    You would think that counting change is pretty simple but so many cashiers get it wrong.  I don't usually ask for a few cents back but I always tell them so that they know they gave incorrect change..

    I always count my change......
    some cashiers..... they just don't know how to count, and i wonder why are they cashiers?

    I think some is done intentionally definitely. Another thing I hate is when taxi drivers try to charge tourists extra. It's awful when things like these can be done. I always check my change at the counter before leaving.

    hmm... i think some were done intentionally... hoping we don't check and they can pocket the money... (uhm, that's my negative thinking) but then again, workers really need to pay more attention.. and we gotta make sure we get the right change back... it's always good to check... ;)

    They obviously do it all the time. Cashiers do it everywhere, even in McD nearby. Grr.
