The other day, my brother-in-law carried this home from the market, my first thought was "hmm, what a strange looking fruit". I've never seen this at the supermarket before.

Does anyone know what it is?

It's a CASHEW! I've never seen how cashews look or grow before it's roasted. The fruity part of it is used to make juice although I've never tasted either. I think it looks cute.

We have the cashew trees planted in our estate and they give off a nice frangance when the fruits are ripe. Interesting fruit/nut!

In Brasil the name of this fruit is "caju". the juice is delicious. But, only the juice.

It has a sweetish taste.... but I didn't really like it. It probably tastes better when it's made into a juice.

I've never seen a cashew in this form before. I agree with Dreamy that the fruit kind of looks like a pepper :) Was it sweet?

wow, yeah it's the first time I've ever seen a cashew in it's natural state. Had no idea how it grew.

You got me! I'm glad I know what a walnut, a peanut, an almond look like. First time with the cashew. Yes, what did the fruit taste like? I've never heard of cashew juice. They probably export it. =)
