I was talking about fruit Rojak in the Shoutbox someday ago and promised Jasmine to post an entry on the recipy and photo of it. So here it goes!

Below i grabbed from Wikipedia. But the ingredient they used is a bit different compare to the one i had frequently so i modified a bit base on the kinda sauce i like.  I also attached a photo of fruit rojak that i had today for your refferences.

For those staying in PJ area, this rojak is good. Is located near the famous “冠记云吞面" that foodcourt beside Atria Shopping centre. Their paste is yummy yummy. I have been buying from him since i was a kid.  I also love that he seperated the sauce so the cracker won't be soggy.

This is the fruits to make fruit rojak.

Fruit rojak consists typically of cucumber, pineapple, raw papaya, raw mangoesturnip. Where by Green apples and jambu air (Water apple) are less commonly used. Then all the ingredients are cut into bite-sized portions.

Some Malaysian will add bean sprouts, and youtiao (fried dough fritters). But i personally doesn't like it much so i asked the uncle not to put it in. Maybe you can try, mayb you will like it.

The dressing is Important, this is the element that make the fruit rojak to be nice and yummy. The type of sauce i like are thick, sweet and a bit of spicy. If you can't take spicy food, you can leave the chilli out. You can mix belacan ( shrimp paste ), sugar, chili (the one i had is using chilli paste), and lime juice. Ingredients vary among vendors with some also using hae ko prawn/ shrimp paste , tamarind or black sweet sauce called (甜酱, timzheong).

Final stage, tossed the eveyrthing into a bowl with the dressing and topped with fried crush peanut (normal kind which is not not oily and salty) is a must and you can add some little bit of sesame as for your preferences.

I found some blog & video about Fruit rojak. You can take a look if you like, but the ingredient for the paste might not be the same as i mention because i wrote it base on the kind that i like. So here you go ya!
