Philips Daylight Window at the Philips Simplicity Event 2007 at Earls Court London. If you are interested here got detail presentation. This afternoon me and my colleagues were discussing how they create such thing. Is amazing.... Trying to figure out how the mechanic. The most impressive part is the shadow! How to make the projected graphic have its own shadow?

Ya i know about touchmode and i surface (tangible navigation). I find it interesting because the graphic projection looks very solid. If they are using projection on a Diled screen (see through surface) it shouldn't be that clear like a LCD screen. And if they put a strong light behind the diled screen right, it will decrease the clarity of the content... transparent LCD... hhmmm gotto research about it.. =)

Then regarding the experiment you mention. It is a slight different apply on their setup. Our hand is a solid object, therefore we will create shadow. But If the content are projected through a projector, it is a visual create throught lights. It isn’t a solid object, that’s the reason make me curious about the shadow on the floor.

However it might be some new product or technology which could answer all this... hehe ^.^

It looks very cool, but I think it's only combination of several very good know technologies.

How they move something on the screen? It's very simple and not new technology. There must be several cameras which see and recognizing people hands - it's only special software.

Why there are shadows?
My idea is that it's very big transparent screen (maybe LCD, every LCD screen is transparent - behind it is light source without which we can't see anything on the screen), and behind it (maybe far away) is very bright source of light, so bright that they cause shadows. Contrast between bright and dark parts of screen is so huge that it cause a shadows of things what we can see on the screen. Make experiment - take a bright lamp, direct it to wall and put hands close to it, you will can see shadow of hands.
