    2008-04-06 8:22PM / 標準BLOG / 會員可以看

Presented by the British Council with acclaimed UK cross-media outfit onedotzero and KLue magazine, Re-imagining the City is an audio-visual project exploring how artists are both influenced by, and can help shape, cities, through the use of digital and other emergent technologies.

Is a 2 days event. Yesterday night got an even in zouk KL which call Surface - live audio visual performance. I think must be cool. I only find out about this today and attended the onedotzero graphic cities screening which held in Annexe, KL Central Market.

There were 17 motion graphic about re-imagining the city shared by onedotzero. I personally love few which i am going to share here.

    Obras by Hendrik Dusollier
A poetic and graphical journey through wild and irreversible urban developments, explored in a single gradual shot, this highly original film offers a photographic and animated interpretation of the destruction and reconstruction taking place in the barrio ribera and diagonal mar, in barcelona, spain. Dusollier's outstanding first film. (I love the details, the art direction and the story line, i think is one of the best due to the layers of meaning behind, the transition from a war which causing the deconstruction and then how it rebuilding the city.)

A place to passage by Hussein Chalayan + neutral
Exploring the implications of speed and techonology on the individual, with a futuristic vehicle designed by Chalayan travelling through artificial and real, environments. Designers, animators and architects neutral have worked with zaha hadid, david adjaye, toyo ito and this collaboration continues their interest in exploring contemporary, peripheral 'non-places' and their impact on our identity. (I like the way it shows the content. It created a virtual exhibition setup of 5 screens in a circular form. Projector in the top middle. Content been projected onto the 5 screens. Each screen showing different angle/ sides of the flying marchine. I believe it will be an excellent piece of work if the setup is real,  the visual impact, sound impact could bring spectator to experience the journey in real.)

    Borderline by Alex Chandon
Chandon takes London on a trip by way of escher, deconstructing both modernist and neo-classical landmarks to rebuild a new, impossible cityscape of upside down staircases and liquid skies. (Very sureal and interesting content, Specially the part where the road was leading the car towards the sea water. Interesting piece of work)

Met Shane Walter. He is the owner and director of progressive moving arts organisation onedotzero. He is a cool guy. But i think he is very dissapointed with the screening's response. Sign.... I also dunno what to say. I felt sad too seeing little people attended the screening. Maybe they should inform art school about all this wonderful events in town. We need to show more support! else they might abandone us one day.
