hmm. due to my old-skool iBook G4 aging, i can't do much 'photos' on the machine. i've been taking my photos in RAW format...require CS3. and me don't have tht. only at work. :) i'll have to postpone all the photo related entries next week. (thanksgiving, baby darya, christmas eve at friend's apt, all my NY venture clicks!)
for now, entries tht i can 'grab' my sources from the web. *wink* hehe....

ART
Dumbo Art Center (DAC)
Exhibition Title: Southern Exposure curated by Ian Cofre and Omar Lopez-Chahoud
(www.dumboartscenter.org/exhibitions.html)
Duration: November 18, 2008 - January 25, 2009 [GO CHECK IT OUT!!! :)]

:: very very interesting exhibition of works by artists from argentina and chile. eight artists were selected and stayed in NY for 2 weeks. it's aslo their first time in NY. they were required to execute what NY meant to them from their 2 weeks stay. they share one space and each artist select an area suit them best. these artists are famous in their home country and never been really invited to NY to exhibit their work. it's really a great chance to have a look at it. read all the artist's books at the front counter. i was amaze. :)
Ian Cofre is a friend of mine tht i met in NY through one of the many techno party. very very fortunate and happy and glad to have met him. he had been pulling me into the world of art and gallery oh and pixel music!! hahah! yea. i'm learning!
i missed the opening due to my sunday laziness, but i attended the curators' talk. man WAS I GLAD I WENT! it was such a 'full' walk trhough of the art pieces. Ian did an AMAZING job. really REALLY proud of him. :) from the talk, i've learned about this useful space call Materials For The Arts (www.mfta.org). basically it's a space FULL of art materials collected from the streets of NY or donated by individuals or group. however, there are rules apply for the recipients...tht's the sad part. sigh...but still, check it out! :)
conclusion, must go have a look if you are around dumbo! :)
if necessary, i can volunteer to go with you and 'try' explain some of the work! hahah!
(oh gosh, i'm abusing my 215MB memory card again!!!)

:: for logo lover, this is a site great to check out. the latest post is about the new Pepsi logo. the whole new re-brand of the classic Pepsi. my take on the new design, 2 out of 5. i absolutely hate the new type choice. what the hell? tht face is not a 'lasting' typeface. the old old classic typeface is the best. i can see they try the minimal approach...but..seriously...not my cup of tea. the minimalism is not balance. the minimal approach is not fully understand and executed properly.

classic design tht will never die. (my own POV)

i don't much like it when it gets into 1998. the 'gradient', the 'sephere' approach. but i have to give props for it gives much more energy to the brand. just the design approach not my cup of tea. still, they are FAR more better than this new 2009 approach. urgh. bad move Pepsi.

the above cans are truly the best execution of 'minimal graphic'. the best Pepsi branding. sometimes, it's wise not to mess with the classic. classic is bad ass, classic RULZ. :)
