Chan admits that in when he was younger he only extended his efforts to develop new talents to his female co-stars, as he felt they was no threat of stealing his limelight. But now in his 50's, Chan is less concerned with this and more focused on supporting the industry as a whole.
'Air Diary' is a semi-autobiographical tale of music students in China struggling to get a music contract. The lead actress is newcomer Xu Fei, who broke into the scene last year by winning the 'Super Girl' talent show which captivated Mainland Chinese TV audiences. Fei is currently in her senior year of a university music program.
