US Investors Hold Back on 'Warlords' Oscars Application

Previous news reports stated that Peter Chan had been hurrying to finish his final cut of 'Warlords', his epic period piece starring Jet Li, Andy Lau and Takeshi Kaneshiro.  He had wanted to finish it in time to submit Warlords as a best foreign language film oscar nominee. 

But his US investors have apparently nixed the idea,  instead opting to wait until next year.  In 2008 the film will be released in the US and will be eligible in all categories as a regular film.

It is important to note that this avoids going head to head in the foreign language category with Ang Lee's much hyped Venice-winner 'Lust, Caution' or Jiang Wen's 'The Sun Also Rises'...
