  • wow, what a summer for movies!

They're running commercials for the new Ed Norton Hulk movie on TV in the US now...  it comes out in like two weeks... Iron Man just came out a few weeks ago --- so Marvel's doing two big films in the same summer? (maybe they've got modest expectations on the Hulk after the last one...)

also Indy 4 comes out this weekend here. Unfortunately I'm flying back to asia on Thursday, but because of the time change, I'll be too late for opening night in HK.  [Anyone want to see it with me over the weekend?] :-P

Anyway, between Indy 4,  Iron Man, the Hulk and the new Batman movie,  the GI Joe movie... it seems like Hollywood will be making a lot of $$$ by the time Labor Day rolls around.

For those who are in Asia and elsewhere, tonight was a big day in US television history - not only was it the finale of 'American Idol' it was ALSO the finale of 'Dancing with the Stars' -- I've never actually seen this show before (it only started after I moved to Japan)...    it was actually somewhat entertaining.  I am glad that Kristi Yamaguchi won (sorry if I spoiled it for anyone who TIVOed it).   -- but she sort of has an unfair advantage, being a professional ice skater, she had a lot more background than the football player, stand-up comic or tennis player. :-P

    Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTepCgSReVg

[we all thought her partner was a little too creepie touchie feelie though, especially when they announced the winner...  Joe said something to the effect of 'if i were her husband i'd punch that guy']

Anyway, after watching this show and also reading Lisa S's blog the other day,  i thought it would be cool to try to organize something like this in HK... they have a Cantonese version of 'Deal or No Deal'... they used to do 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire'...

I think Mark Ballas' behaviour is normal for professional dancers.  If you think about it, there is no "privacy" in professional ball room dancing.  I think the same is true in pairs skating, too.

For Mark, this was a sweet revenge (IMO) for having been voted off the previous season with another favorite celebrity, Sabrina Bryant.  Her voting off certainly was a wake-up call to all voters of the show:  if you like a certain person, you'd better vote for 'em!

Yeah it is a bit unfair, we had 'dancing on ice' and a professional ice hockey player was allowed in, so he knew how to skate straight off. I think the shows should be more careful at choosing stars.

I don't watch this show but I was glad to hear that Kristi Y won even though she had a total advantage.  I heard that she actually did more practice session  than some of the other contestants.   That probably wasn't hard for her at all.

And I remember seeing 'The Weakest Link' while I was over there. One episode, and it was all celebrities, and Eason got bumped first round. Haha!

I don't know if they have it in America, but have you seen So You Think You Can Dance? That's a good one too. Over here, the Australian one is on at the same time as American Idol, so my sister has to flick constantly between the two.

I didn't watch the part when they announced the winner. Thought it would be KY all the way bc of her consistency and sportsmanship. She's a competitor and all their dances were great. Also think most of the male pro dancers are touchy-feely. With all the body contact that goes on in the routines, maybe they feel entitled to do it during celebrations too. Who knows....maybe there's some 'chemistry' going on. Maybe we'll read about that in the tabloids one of these days. Nah, he's prolly gay. kekeh

actually a lot of the pro dancers are touchie touchie with their partners, not only Kristi's partner... a lot of them are married with kids and still touchie touchie... quite surprising and yes, it is kinda uncomfortable, I would say, but *shrugs*

DWTS is a great show... =) I've been watching the last 3 seasons... yea, I was busying pushing the "Back" button to flip between DWTS and American Idol... hahaa... =)

I have to say, because I used to be a figure skater and I know all the background training that's involved.....it's a completely unfair advantage, she's had a lot of dancing training, you can't skate without it. I still love her though! And yeah some of the couples are really touchie feely kind of weird for reals!
