• Just missed the protests...

  Long time no blog! I returned safely from my Jordan and Egypt trip last week, but have been laying low for a bit recovering from jetlag and a mild cold. It was an amazing trip, I'll have to post details and photos later.
  
  Thanks to everyone who left comments from my previous blog wishing me a safe and good trip! Overall we felt fairly safe in both countries... other than the day we had to make a 4-hour drive up from Luxor to Cairo by police convoy because we were traveling on a stretch of road that was infamous for robberies of tour buses. It was also unnerving at times to see so much military presence everywhere... but I guess it's a normal thing in the Middle East.
  
  We flew from Cairo back to HK on April 5th. Scary enough, it turns out that on the next day April 6th, there were huge protest attempts in Egypt against the government and the rising food prices and stagnant wages. In Cairo, police was out in full force to thwart the planned protests. Not to mention that a strong sandstorm swept through the city that day as well!
  
  Looks like we left Egypt at the perfect time!
