    Synopsis

    Years of Upheaval
    Lingering Love and Hate
A story about the integrated Chinese family of Glamour and Decadence

Wah Man-Hon ( Lau Chung Yan, Damian ), Wah Man-Hung (Liao Jing Sheng) and Wah Man-Shek (Miu Kiu Wai) were all born in mainland China. But as a result of the massive political upheaval and the profound misunderstanding among them, the three brothers have fallen out and now live apart in Hong Kong, Beijing and Canada respectively.

Hon’s business goes down the pan in the aftermath of the Asian Financial Turmoil. The only saving grace is that members of the Wah's from around the world, including Hon’s son Wah Chun-Bong ( Lam, Raymond ) and Hung’s son Wah Chun-Man (Feng Shao Feng), can finally put their prejudice aside and become reconciled with one another. To realize the century-old dream of the family, they decide to work together to develop the local automobile industry.

After ten years of struggle, the Wahs have established its own brand of limousine – a brand the whole Chinese nation is proud of. They make a significant and ongoing contribution to China’s automobile industry for they believe that only cars of our own will take us to a better future.

I finally finished watching the series... so here comes my long entry... but if it gets too long, I'll stop it somewhere and continue tomorrow...

just a quick review... my thoughts... it's a good series that involves Hong Kong and China... it's a rather long series; 60 episodes, so you can imagine that it may become a drag at times. For me, it felt like a drag in the beginning; I would say that maybe the first 10 episodes helped set the foundation of the plot/storyline and intro to the characters and family ties... but afterwards, it really picks up its speed and the story takes all sorts of turns with some surprises... so it keeps you hooked

Things I liked about it. The cast; very strong actors/actresses. when Jessica Hsuan first came on the screen, I realized it has been awhile since I've seen her acting; I've always admired her skills, so it was good seeing her again. And of course Raymond Lam (as many of you would have guessed already ) OH! and Michael Miu; never saw him in his earlier years but got to know him more after his return to TVB.

Lesson learned. In the video above, Damien Lau says that a family is like a car, it's put together by many parts; [and a car can only run if all parts are there together.] And this message / lesson is clearly seen throughout the series. As I mentioned before there were some really good scenes of a happy family together for dinner or in the living room... A good family bonding requires a lot of time, understanding, trust, and love for one another.

Thing that made my mind wonder. obviously we can never earn all the money in the world, so how do we define how much money is enough for us? from this series and also Heart of Greed, it made me see that actually money can be very evil... it can cause a person to lose their own mind / direction in life just to earn more money as a way of winning their "enemy".
(金錢 / 名利 / 仇恨) ; the thing that really shocked me is that Ngai Wing Biu (played by Joe Ma) can do anything just to win and be on top; he can betray a lot of people and hurt his own family. That makes it very scary to see money and fame can become so evil. I don't want to say too much about the storyline b/c I know many of you haven't seen it.

I've learned that since we will never reach the "top" because the sky is the limit; we should define where the top is and the top should include happiness and love. When greed starts creeping in, that's when troubles begin... Life is never an easy path; it is actually quite a long path; we may take a wrong path in life but we need to learn from it and move on to the right path... we must remain true to ourselves.

Sorry... too many things going thru my mind right now... a little tongue-tied... can't seem to find the right words to express what I'm trying to say... maybe I need to sleep first and then come back to it...

if you get a chance to watch Drive of Life, you should definitely watch it; it's long, but I think it's worth the 60 episodes of time...

Congrats for finishing Jane.  You have more patience and fortitude than me. While based in the auto industry, this drama seems to explore basic themes of human nature liike most other TVB dramas.  I feel like a lot them seem to pick up the whole greed is not the key to happiness message.   I'll have to check this one out when time permits.  I love Jessica.  I hope this won't be her last TVB series.  Are you feeling better btw?

haha.. good job!  I'm not patient enough to sit and watch these TV dramas :P... especially since I can't stand the over-dramatics and end up giggling in death scenes..hahah.

I can't really get into these miniseries. All the dramatics and communication problems get me riled up and frustrated. No thanks for Peachey.
