OH! somehow I had forgotten to mention the food in HK... that's a big part for me... hahaa... I LOVED THE FOOD THERE!!!! it's so tasty and cheap too!! I'm already missing the food there... but yea, I have no food pics... but I loved the eggies / eggettes there on Nathan Road... the BEST!!! loved the "chee faan" (sticky rice roll) in Causeway Bay, Rice Noodles in Mong Kok... oh! and the wonton noodles around the Mong Kok area... and also the pork and vegetable buns, the egg tarts, the pineapple bun... YUM!!!!!~ the ice cream... the desserts... and on and on...

as you can see... I ate a lot... but I told myself it was okay to eat "more" b/c I knew I would be walking a lot too... hehee... if it wasn't the walking, I'd probably gain like 10+ pounds... hahaa...

anyhoo... so in conclusion... overall I enjoyed this month long trip... when I first got there, I couldn't believe I was actually in HK... its kinda like a "dream come true" but I'll be honest, I didn't really like it the first few days... I wasn't used to all the traffic (cars and people)... but then I eventually got used to it... and I thought that it was too fast-paced...

but then Ivy mentioned that actually HK people aren't that fast-paced... they actually walk very slow... then after that, I noticed it... Ivy was right... actually they are very slow... I usually get frustrated and walk around them or start walking on the street... hahaa...

so what are my thoughts about actually living there? hmm... I think it could be a possibility... but I'm gonna wait a little first... I want to try and see if I can find a "decent" job here in SF... if not, then a change of environment to HK might be worth a try... *shrugs* but I'm thinking that vacationing is very different from actually having to live there... so even now, I feel 50/50 about it... I think I would hate having to ride the public transportation during rush hour... tried it when I was there... *argh*

hmm... my mom actually asked me... what are the pros and cons... I thought about it for awhile... here's what I answered...

pros: good food, everything's pretty cheap (after converting back to US dollars), very accessible, good public transportation (love the octopus card)

cons: pollution (cars and smokers) living is expensive, tons of people

moving is something to think about on a serious note.. but vacation... any time... hahaa...

so yea, like I said, it was a good trip... I had my bad moments there... meeting some very very selfish people... when things happened, I just called my mom and vented to her... then I felt better... but I also shared my happy moments with her too... hahaa... but I'm definitely gonna remember the happy moments.. like spending New Year's Eve with Andy Lau, meeting my AnD friends, meeting up with other friends (like Lilly), seeing Michael Wong, Ryan Hui, Terence, and Andrew, seeing Michael Miu, Felix Wong, Bosco Wong, Myolie Wu, and others, taking tons of pics of HK and other random things, and eating good food!!! well, that pretty much sums it up for me... hahaa... now I must get my mind back to San Francisco...

All the talk is making me really hungry!

Glad you enjoyed your HK trip tremendously, but i guess living there is a diff ball game from spending a vacation there.

Yeah, there are definitely pros and cons of living in HK. It'll probably be good for a few years, which is what a lot of people i meet here are doing, and they almost always end up really liking it out here because there's so much energy and fun things to see and do. Air pollution is definitely a big negative here though...

Yes, there're lots of pros/cons of living in HK.  I always wonder if I want to move back to HK when I get really old.  Cos HK is my hometown, I love the food, and I'm familiar with the place, people.....but air pollution is the worst part, and living in HK is expensive as well (housing); anyway, if you can find a good job in HK, it's worth trying, cos it's the window of China.  (what's your major?)
BTW, I love the ice-cream (you showed in the pic) from the ice-cream van, lots of childhood memory from it.  Everytime I visited HK, I must have one !

WELCOME BACK TO THE STATES!!! heehee...glad to hear your trip was good. I missed the food when I came back from my semester abroad there! I couldn't wait so the very next summer I took my brothers and sisters there just for the heck of it! LOL...tis a good place to visit :)

Oh, vacationing vs. earning a living are very disparate things. I'm sure the allure of HK would change somewhat after you've lived there and worked there. It does sound exotic though.

That food is right up my alley. I didn't eat enough when I was there. I was half worried about eating too much and half worried that I shouldn't be eating if I'm not hungry. haha. I was only there 3 days so I shoulda just let loose. ;D But no regrets or nothing like that. There's not much to do when you're alone (even tho I had sis).

Food in Hong Kong, everything was so cheap compared to Britain too, definitely a bonus. I have to agree with you and Ivy, I thought that it may be like London, everyone at race pace, but it was really laid back.
You have plenty of time to consider a move to Hong Kong, it's always an option for you. Hope you find the job you want in SF

There does seem to be good food all over the place there.  Good thing you you could walk it off :)  It is surprising that they move at a slow pace there.  Like you I would've expected quite the opposite.  Overall it sounds like you had a great trip despite the bad moments.  So many celebrity sightings wow!  Guess you didn't see your lovely Raymond Lam?  You def. have to go back now :P
