TVB 40th Anniversary Award Show

This past weekend was the award show for TVB's 40th Anniversary... the show I have been waiting to watch b/c I was awaiting the results anxiously... as many of you may have guessed the reason to wanting to watch... hehee... but hmm... I don't want to comment too much on the results... I'm about 50/50 on it... most of the people who I voted for didn't get the award...

when I first saw the results posted online, I wasn't really thinking too much of it... but then I realized that actually this year 2 awards went to people who played the "bad guys" in the series... the Favorite Female Character Role went to Susanna Kwan who plays the "evil" lady in Heart of Greed... Don't get me wrong, she did a superb job on the role she was given, but I don't think I would say she was a Favorite Character... b/c I'm sure a lot of people hated her for the things she did in the series... so that was a little odd...

the other person is Best Supporting Actor: Louis Yuen... he was also the bad guy in Heart of Greed... I guess he did good in the series, but I didn't see it as much different from the other roles he did before... *shrugs*

But all in all... Everyone who got awards deserved the awards... they've all worked hard for it... for those who didn't get it... they will have to try harder next year... b/c there is only one award for each category...

The last part of the award show was quite... hmm... what's the word... a mix of happy and sad... The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Lydia Shum 沈殿霞... I think most of you should know or seen her before... the past 6 months or so, she's been rather ill... in and out of the hospital... so it was both happy and sad to see her on TV again... Happy b/c it's been a long time since I've seen her on TV and she is receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award... but Sad b/c she was in a wheelchair and it is quite obvious that she has lost a lot of weight and she looks quite weak... when she came out to receive the award, everyone stood up... as she was thanking everyone, people started crying... A mix of happy and sad...

It is seen that she lost a lot of weight (which may be good for her) but it also shows how serious her illness may be... I really hope that she will get well soon... All my best wishes to Lydia Shum...
