as you may (or may not) recall... I had problems with my computer... and I replaced the DVD-rom... installed it Sunday... but the DVD-rom still can't read the discs I put in... whether it's an audio cd, movie dvd, or a software cd... it's so frustrating... it detects the disc but I can't open it or anything... did a DriveCheck on it... it passed on writing to disc, but it failed to read the disc... what could be wrong?????? maybe I didn't connect something correctly??

Tried to fix my mom's computer and no luck there either... it's so frustrating... my mom's bf has been trying to get it fixed too, but it's getting frustrating for him too... I don't know what to do... err...

but our computers, I guess, are kinda old... but with computers, what is considered old? what is the "lifespan" for a computer? err... if the average life-span for a computer is only a few years, why would someone want to spend thousands on a computer that will be replaced again in a few years? err...

but it's funny cause the few videos that I saw on this computer rage thing, almost everyone starts pounding on the monitor... but it has nothing to do with the monitor... hahaa... it's the CPU...

Why you replaced the DVD-rom? You must check If everything is OK with software.
DVD-rom don't read any CD, DVD? Before replaced DVD can read everything? What operating system you have?

I saw this video many times, it's very funny, crazy, hehehe

I think the "useful" lifespan of a desktop computer is 5 years and laptop is 3 years

The most annoying thing with electrical goods is that going back ten years things lasted longer, but the more modern something is, the less lifespan it has nowadays.
I definitely know how that guy feels, and yeah should really aim for the CPU, but the keyboard has always been the first thing I hit out at too!
I hope you can get the computer's sorted!!!

well, the laptop i'm using right now has been around for 5 years now... SONY VIAO notebook... but i do want an upgrade ;)

computers can last for awhile....basically as long as the hardware is working - you can get it to work. A desktop usually lasts longer than a laptop - also easier to upgrade. My laptop lasted 6 years before hardware started breaking down,.

yes, built in obsolescence really sucks, it is irrelevant that they are becoming cheaper as the waste of resources and environmental issues that it causes is really harmful.

lol. I remember seeing this vid a long time ago. It was hysterical then as it is now. Yes, I would have definitely thrown the CPU instead, or, in addition to the monitor.

You can buy a new PC for under a grand now. It's so disgustingly cheap and easy to replace an older machine. Ah, but I know you prefer Mac's. ;D
