    I bought me 3 packs of haw flakes yesterday during the grocery shopping.



    I always smile when I see them. Because when I was a kid, my brother and I would follow my mom to the Chinatown herbal store and we were always given haw flakes. Occasionally I'd get one more than my brother. 

    Though the wrapping is the same as it has been for ages. I actually think it has gotten better because I remember when I ate it as a kid, the paper would always stick on the haw flakes and I'd always end up eating the paper with it.

    We rarely got candy, so these were always a treat. and they're cheap. $0.39 for a pack of 10. I don't know how much was it "back in the days" though...

    they seem smaller now...did u know that you can use them in parking meters as quarters...when we had the old meters with the knob???

    Like you, I always smile when I see these too.  Such a great reminder of childhood.  I would still like to know just what Haw is though.  I mean it tastes good.  They should never change that packaging - it's totally classic!

    it's funny how so many of us here have eaten haw flakes from our childhood (and still do eat them now) and yet, we were never really sure what it's made of... hehee... =D

    I gotta see one of those hawthorn plants some day... hahaa...

    $0.39 is cheap for 10...probably even cheaper than HK! I still like them alot and so does Chloe. They're bit healthier than sweets aren't they?!

    oh they look like biscuits. Interesting to learn that they have been seized from entering the US due to the colourings used. I'd like to try these.

    My sis used to eat those all the time. What are they made of. I remember someone told me they were made of tree bark.
