May 26th is fast approaching... that day will mark the one year since I graduated... and what have I done since graduation? uhm... not much I guess... and I need to get something into my hands before some people start lecturing me again...

I'm always asked the question, so what is it that you want to do? seriously, for graphic design the range is so broad that I find it difficult to answer that question. But I guess the end of it all, I want the end results be something in print. Don't know why, but it gives me a very rewarding feeling when I see something in print; probably b/c it's tangible, whereas the web, it's not the same feeling...

couple weeks ago I found what I thought would have been a good start for my graphic design career. I submitted my resume and portfolio to this photography company looking for graphic designers to design wedding albums. I was so excited when I saw that job posting. I had the strong feeling that "This is where I want to start." but unfortunately I never heard back from them and I can't find the job posting anymore.

Keep trying. You'd never know what you'd find. All we do is print, with a slow migration to other channels. If I hear of any design positions, I'll let you know. Check us out at hagginmarketing.com

Even though you didn't hear back from the company yet, at least you got an inkling to what it is you would like to do. It's a start, and now you can go for it.

i graduated in 2005,till now i still can't answer the question"what is it that you want to do?"clearly.

Do what you really want to. Otherwise, you'll resent your situation and yourself.

You won't fail. Better to succeed modestly (though you'll do better than that) at what you want to do than to succeed immensely at doing something you DON'T want to do!

Choose the right field / area in your first job is very important, so no need to rush, just be patient and choose the best for yourself.

So tell me...what is it that you want to do? I graduated in 2005 and people still ask me that question. Everyone knows that I don't want to be in the industry that I am in now, but it's tough getting in the industry that I want to be in. Just take it slow. Everything will fall into place with time.

You're still young and can try different things now Jane. Don't feel like you need to rush into something just for the sake of doing something. I think web design is still pretty lucrative now. Job hunting is tough, just stick with it and something will happen :)

i think graphic design has a tough market.. i have friends looking for jobs as well.. and it's not going to good.......
but hopefully, it'll be better in the west coast

I know how you feel. I applied to a few jobs that I know would have been a good start for me and that I was interested in but didn't hear back from them. :(

Have you found your once-in-a-lifetime friend? be sure to not lose that friend. My once-in-a-lifetime friend is my mom. She's totally awesome because she's more like a sister/friend to me. We are really close and I love her so much!!
