If Tinkerbelle were to ask me to think of happy thoughts for me to be able to fly like Peter Pan, then I’ll be flying so high w/ just the thoughts of “adorable” kids & babies. Have you ever experienced feeling down, & whenever you see a child or a baby on TV, or even at the park or mall, you feel relieved & happy? Maybe it’s their mere innocence that makes you feel that everything’s alright.
Okay, you might think I’m the type of a jolly person, who has children surrounding me everywhere, do magic tricks w/ them, making funny faces & stuff like that, NO I’m not.
I’m not actually good w/ kids; my patience is too limitied. Although I barely see kids or babies in my daily life, children just amazes me, on how tiny their fingers & toes are, how they couldn’t utter the words they want to say, how sweet & vulnerable they look, & on how a great blessing they are to every home, they make this world seems so calm & vivid.
They remind me much of my childhood in the Middle East, which I could consider the happiest stage of my life. I always thought that if there’ll be any time machine, I’ll go back to that time when my parents were still young & healthy, when the only problem that I had is how to tie my hair in pretty pigtails or ponytail, where the world that I lived in is filled w/ magic, barbies & sweets. I missed those days..
That’s why when I see kids, I want to think that they’re being taken well care of, loved & protected; after all we were once like them who thought that we’re all living in a happy world secured from harm & distress.
“A baby in the house is a well-spring of pleasure, a messenger of peace and love, a resting place for innocence on earth, a link between angels and men”
- Martin Fraquhar Tupper
By the way, I remembered when my little cousin Iya was here, I think she was only 5 then, since the only thing I know on how to deal w/ kids is to feed them w/ lots of yummy food, I try to filled her cup w/ ice cream, when suddenly she said she has enough already, and added, “ice cream is fattening, I might gain weight” I was like “what?!” Where in the world did she get that idea? & to think that she was only 5! I don’t think she got that from her mom, who’s a teacher.
But my god, I can’t believe how vain this world turns to be that even little kids thinks being skinny is beautiful. She doesn't even know how to spell the word "diet" & yet she already knows what it means.
