I should have been working 3 years ago, & yet, there are times I still be mistaken as a student.
I remember when I had a facial due to the stress I was having in my last semester in college, the attendant asked me where do I attend my high school, I was like “huh? I’m in my last year of college”. There was also this time when I went to a certain salon to get my hair dyed, the people there greeted me & inquired if I’m going to have my make up done for our JS prom, I just pretended not to hear them & gave them a smile. That was kinda awkward for me.
I also get surprised reactions coming from my uncles & aunts whenever I tell them about my age. Oh well, maybe they're just trying to ignore the fact that they’re also getting older as my age increases.
Even now that I went back to school with my younger brother to further our studies, some of my college acquaintances are hesitant to believe that my brother is younger than me. Some don't even know that we're postgraduate students.
I don’t know If I’ll take that as a compliment or not, it makes me wonder if it's about my height(sob!), or the way I look, or maybe most young girls today act more sophisticated than women my age?
I know a lot of you had their eyebrows raised thinking what nonsense am I talking about when I look like a normal woman in her 20’s. haha.
My point is that I hate receiving comments like these, ‘coz I feel guilty when I do know that I look older than most of my cousins who are 4 years older than me & even my 2 close friends who are already married.
But anyway, it's healthy to feel young, & with regards to my age, it has never been an issue to me, but it’s always fun keeping it undisclosed just for the mystery of it.
P.S.
that's an old photo of my mom when she was younger.
