i think dis will be my last blog b4 i head to San Fran ....dis is actually my first trip where i go w/o my family or a tour agency

and now i'm pretty impress w/ tour guides and tour agencies.  TOUR PLANNING IS HARD!! haha

    knowing where to go

    how to go

    when to go

    is all actually pretty tough

of course, i can always just go there and plan but my friends like to be organized so... ya...

i'm just bad w/ roads cos i'm a road blind haha

anyways, thx to EVERYONE who contributed ideas and sending off best wishes ~ it was wayyyy easier who all of ur ideas and tips!! ^_^

    here's my plan ~~ haha

    DAY ONE

airport-->hotel ( i think our closest BART station from where i live is San Bruno, hopefully dats not ar)

    then Fisherman Wharf

    DAY TWO

    Union Square

    DAY THREE

Market Street...hang around there or maybe Golden Gate Bridge?

    FINAL DAY

    SOMA, Japantown

it's still a pretty rough "draft" but ya... check it out ~~ :P

i agree, sometimes joining the tour is so much better when they explain to you the history and stuff and they know the route. One thing i hate is 'morning calls', they kill me big time when we always need to wake up at 7am.

if you like oysters.. go to Swan Oyster Depot... their crab is GREAT too!  But do expect long line!  (close on Sun, otherwlse open 8-5:30).  If you are in Chinatown... go get egg tart at Golden Gate Bakery - yum yum yum!!!

Union Sq is good for name brand shopping, and the Westfield mall (right by union sq. walk down Powell st. to Market, Powell St Bart Station) is nice for that (Bloomingdale's, Beard Papa's, 'wichcraft in the back, movie theater upstairs) Try not to wander too far up or down Market, you get into Financial (boring) and the Tenderloin (sketchy).
Day 3 should be Golden Gate, not Market St (the only thing to do on Market are the mall areas, by union sq. or strip clubs in the Tenderloin area =P).
And like Peachey said, remember to bring layers. The weather goes from sunny to foggy/chilly as suddenly as a HK summer shower.

One more thing. Bring a medium jacket. It gets chilly around these parts esp SF and esp at night.

SF Chinatown you can probably skipped then.

Take a cable car from Downtown to Fisherman's Wharf. It stops either near Ghirardelli Square if you take the Hyde St. cable car or it stops closer to Pier 39 if you take the Powell street cable car. You get on at the same place in downtown, just depends which one you want to get on. I think the Hyde Street one has a better (and longer) ride thru the streets of SF.

Oh, I don't think there's that much to do on Market Street or Union Square. They're practically one and the same, actually. Why would you want to go shopping on a vacay when you can do that at home?

Market street then Golden Gate Bridge is ok. Still have plenty of time to fit other things in. You have to do Chinatown.

Ghirardelli Square is walking distance from Pier39 so you have that covered. Gotta do a ferry ride around the bay. Takes about an hour or two (including waiting for the ferry's next scheduled ride).

There are several museums. Legion of Honor has a great view of GG bridge and is a nice, smaller museum. DeYoung Museum is inside Golden Gate Park but maybe not necessary. Other small ones that I don't really know. heehee

Sounds like you're not driving. No Napa? Some people even try to go to Stanford or UC-Berkeley.

Many things to see and do.

Sounds like you've got most of it all figured out.  I came to HK with no plans other than like 1 or 2 dinners.
