Blood

We had a blood drive yesterday at work. Since I'm "overweight", I was able to give differently that the last time (when I gave normal blood). I qualify to donate via Apheresis which is a special kind of blood donation that allows a donor to give specific blood components, such as platelets. This took a bit longer, but it's suppose to be a better donation. So, during my first donation earlier this year, it was just blood...real quick too. This time, they hooked me up to a machine where my blood was drawn, then centrifuged to seperate things and take what they need, and then shoot back into me the leftovers. Sorry, no pictures...I can't stand the sight of blood, I get weak from it...No Lie (it's for this reason I never became a police officer or fireman)!!! So, this process happened 3 times about an hour for the whole process. Afterwards, I felt fine...but later became a bit light-headed. When I got home, I was out at 9pm and didn't get up until close to 7am. I've not slept that long since pre-kids!!! But, as squeemish I am about blood, I don't mind donating, knowing that it'll be put to good use. I guess sometimes, it's not always about donating cash/money because there are other things you can donate that can help others...like clothes, food, etc...
