For the last couple of weeks, our little boy been telling us that a boy walks up to him and punches him in his tummy. Ooooo...not good! But as an almost 3 year old boy, could he be making up this story? We ask again and he demonstrates how he's punched...then his story is corroborated by his sister. With the first incident, big sis saw the hit and then went to tell the teacher as she consoled him. It broke our hearts that she said she went to make sure he was OK, he was beginning to tear up. This didn't sit well for mom and dad...but for those of you who know AC...she was not having it...(i.e. walking around the house saying, "Take him out!" and other ummm "things") We start teaching him how to block...not hit...just block. So, the next week (kids go to pre-school twice a week), he tells me again that the little boy hits him again. This time we get a name, plus with our little girl's bday, mom went to the school to celebrate and took pix and vids...at home, we played it and both kids fingered the little bully.

Last week, my little boy comes up to me and says, "Daddy, I hit him." I asked, "What happened?" Our little girl jumps in and tells us that the bully approached our little boy and was about to punch him again, but this time, our little guy blocked him and counter punched him. Then, he pushed the bully back. AC jumped up and let out a "Woo Hoo!" We were really proud of him protecting himself and fighting back. We're so proud...it's a good proud...an OK to be proud, right?

I'm damn pround!!! Of my kid.
The bully got a brief  "don't do that" from the pre-school... the school.. any school will do what’s right for them. I as a parent will do what’s right for my kids. Include teaching them to stand up for themselves.
If the bully keeps it up... mommy's going to teach him to aim for the ding ding.

Absolutely okay to be proud. Your little guy was making a stand for himself and not letting that bully push him around.  That bully will probably even think twice about messing with others now.  AC is funny :)

Nothing worse than a belly-hitting bully....I'm really surprised the teacher didn't take any action with the bully.  That's weird, in my opinion.

My daughter had a preschool mate that was a biter.  That was nasty.  I was really mad (way back when she was little) and I was livid that the daycare/preschool teachers weren't doing enough to prevent this other child's dangerous behavior.  My daughter even had the skin broken on one of those bites.  I finally had to tell her not to even be around this other little girl because what she was doing was wrong.  Never a rule breaker, my daughter would never hit, scratch or bite back.  I think the other little girl finally had some family conseling or something.

I tell ya...it's always something with rearing kids.  As if we all didn't have enough troubles in life, there are those who purposefully go around attacking others.  I hope your son has discouraged any future actions from this bully, and more importantly, he will help others who are victims (but hopefully not by punching them!).

Damned right it's fine to be proud! The underlying lesson of standing up for what's right is always a good one to learn early in life. Now uncle Greg wants to come over and teach him the scissor take-down!  hehe....j/k

I was bullied before in school too... by a boy... *argh* there wasn't much that could be done until I actually got hurt... then my mom stepped in and I think that boy was removed from the class I was in...
