Last Thursday night, I dropped off my car to the dealer to repair 2 recalls. I dreaded this because of the horror stories from forums that I had read earlier about their cars being returned in worst shape and the terrible service from dealers. But I had to do this or else I could not register my car. So, I needed a fix on the gear shifter and the catalytic converter (this was already "clanging" for quite a while now). So, at no cost to me, I figured some of the pain that was to come would be OK. I dropped the car off as a "Early Bird" and the service manager called the next day in the AM telling that the shifter was completed, but they didn't have the catalytic converter until Tuesday(how could a dealer not have a common part), so I opt to leave it over the weekend. They called Monday AM and told me it was done, one day earlier that promised. I was impressed, but waiting for the "But..." from the manager. Luckily, no mentions of other problems. I went to pick up my car on Tuesday AM, all is fine, signed the papers, got my keys, went to my car. Beeped it to unlock, grabbed the handle and pressed the button.......nothing! No resistance from the handle button and no door opening! I locked and unlocked...nothing! WTF!!! I went back to the manager and he took a look and admitted there is a problem and said i can leave it there. I asked if there is a charge and he responded, "Of course there is!!!" I said it was fine when I dropped it off. But, he says, well it's coincidental that it happened. I was like, "BULL$hit!!!" But he wasn't about to make me a happy customer, so, knowing that there could be some "coincidence" in this, I just left. So, now, I can't get in on the driver side, which means that I have to crawl in and open from the back door or passenger door. Anyways, I hate dealerships!!! Now, I have 2 doors that don't work on my jeep, the driver side door and the liftgate! In addition to the doors, there are other issues that will cost more to fix than the car is worth. I guess, I'll need to get a new/used car. :( I hate to HAVE TO buy something. I know I should be excited, but not at this point.

It really stinks when you're forced to replace something esp. something as big as a car.

There is a charge for you to leave the car at the dealership so they can repair something that they probably caused to be faulty? Probably a good thing to wait until after the car's repaired before you start arguing about this.....

Come over and read my Miss Chinatown entry. Thought you might have some input. Also, DW's coming to SF next month. Tell Amy! haha.
