  • So Sad

Yesterday, a big freighter making its way to the docks rammed into the Bay Bridge causing it to spill oil into the SF Bay. Now, the beach that we went to this past Sunday is closed as they try to clean up the spill. I'm pretty bummed about it as it a real nice beach and safe too. But, now we'll just have to see how the clean up will be and its effect on the whole area. :(

Just like that, this accident changes some many lives. We can't ever take all those good simple things in life for granted.

Below are a few images from SFGate.com, there's more on their site.

    Alcatraz

North of the Golden Gate Bridge...if the pix extend down, I work about 2 inches from this point of view...I think the little bay that I see may get affected too. :(

I got a research on oil spill when doing my high school paper; it's so bad to the animals, they can just wait to die.  That's really bad!

Yes, It is too sad. All I can hear are the law suits,  tighter control, and more blame on coast guard.  I'd prefer to hear what we can do to save the birds and fishes.

That's really terrible.  These spills tend to have some pretty bad lingering effects on the environment and wildlife.  Hopefully they figure out a way to clean it up safely and quickly.

So weird how that happened. And that guy who was guiding the tanker had over 15 years of experience.

Thru the local news, I'd learned about these "pilot" people who specifically board big vessels coming in and and going out of the bay just so they could guide them safely under those bridges. I didn't know people with such a job function existed.

oh no that's awful, it's sad to see the wildlife suffering, and  you are right, we take the simple things in life fo granted far too much and always realise it too late.
