  • Laziness Drives Me Crazy

Lately, I haven't been blogging much. I just don't have much to share or write about. I no longer read over each blog entry that pops up on feeds, I just skim right through. I've been lazy. Yes I do realize that not reading blogs does not translate into laziness, but I haven't been doing much of anything lately. I feel like I'm stuck in this black hole. I go to work and I go out with my friends. I don't do much of anything else. I'm suppose to be studying for the GMATs but I haven't even opened the books that has been sitting on my desk for the past two months. I've stopped taking walks in the afternoons and I only go to the gym once a week. My room is a mess and I don't want to clean it and that freaks me out. I'm usually very OCD about the cleanliness of my living/sleeping space, but these days I find myself always thinking... I'll do it tomorrow. When tomorrow comes, nothing gets done. Eck...my room collects dust like a vacuum. Luckily I still manage to do my laundry once a week.

I just realize that I've been really bad with keeping in touch with people now too. I used to love sending out cards to all my friends during the holidays (V-Day, Easter, St. Patrick's, etc). I did none of that this year. Well maybe that's just has do with the postage and materials being so expensive these days.  I used to respond to my personal emails everyday. Now I put it off. It seems like it's been ages since I've send an email to any of my friends that are abroad. What's wrong with me? I used to love doing these things. Two of my friends have birthdays coming up in just a couple of days and have I gone shopping for their gifts or cards yet? The answer is "NO."

A couple of weeks ago I sent a mass email out to organize a small reunion with some of the people that were on the same exchange program as me at the Chinese University of Hong Kong a couple of years ago, but guess what? I set the date for this Saturday, but it was only this past weekend that I figured out what we should do. If I had just taken a little more time to plan, we probably could've all gone to Vegas or camping or something. Instead, it's just dinner. Now I have to figure out what we should do after dinner.

I'm highly stressed out at work these days but I still manage to get things done. I go out on the weekends and have fun with my friends. There just seems to be so much going on around me that I don't have time for the little things in my personal life. I'm just so lazy and I keep telling myself that it's okay or that I'll get it done tomorrow. Nothing gets done. It's not like these little things that I don't do are effecting anybody else, but it bugs the crap out of me.

    I think I'm going crazy!

We all go through these periods and sometimes you just need the right thing to spark you up again.  You shouldn't let it bother you too much.  At least there's nothing physically wrong with you. You'll be back to doing things the way you used to or maybe transition into a routine that is more suitable to you now.

don't worry too much about it ~ everyone gets into a weird slump sometimes where they don't want to do anything besides what's really necessary.

Dont' think I could state it better than Peachey! I'm feeling the same way as you at the moment and it's frustrating not knowing the 'why' I am, If I did, it would be easier to fix. Hope you get the ethusiasm back soon

Could be a number of things. Could be you have less time/patience/energy to indulge all the old friends and old activities. Perhaps in the past it was easier to socialize bc there was a more manageable # of friends. Could be you're just in a little rut, esp with being stressed at work. It gets like that with lots of regular people. Sometimes you just have to throw yourself back into some aspect of your previous activities - be it shopping for those gifts & cards, taking the time to plan a better get-together, or whatever. I'm sure your enthusiasm will come back to you...if you truly find it important to continue all the old activities. But like you said, if some of the things you've skipped lately doesn't affect anybody else, should you let it continue to bug you? Just a few of my thoughts.

  • Super straight forward and blunt. I'm the friend that tells you that you look like sh*t at the end of a long day at work (and then I help you fix your hair)...
