• Brides and Snow: 下雪天和《新娘》回归

  Thanks to some great support down in Shanghai, the first 上海 public screening of "Shanghai Bride"  《上海新娘》 will be held on January 31st. Will be a small affair with a Q&A with the producer afterwards. Hoping I can juggle schedule with the war movie to make it down.

  Feels rather strange that the film, which is about dating in the city, has played at many cities EXCEPT Shanghai. Let's see how it goes for the home crowd! For anyone based in Shanghai, I'll post up details of where/when it's on next week. Also, just found out that CCTV is running re-runs of  《老外来了》, which is nice. Still working on new episodes which I think are far better, and should be a blast to shoot!

  In the meantime, it's been snowing in Beijing! Whenever it snows I think I regress to the mid-80's when I was say knee-high with plastic boots. A few days ago I rugged up and rushed out to catch some snow flakes and grab a few photos! Ah, the innocence of it all. Somehow I would half expect even a cold-hearted CEO, in the brief walk from his high rise office to his BMW, to get a twinge of longing for running wildly through the snow with a bunch of buddies.

  But that was yesterday. Of course now the snow has turned into a wonderful brown 7-11 Slurpy; ingredients: oil grease, car exhaust dust, with a dash of sidewalk salt. Heaps more snow predicted for tomorrow, time to get out those plastic boots... here are some photos:

  A giant construction hole where a hutong used to be. This is the same block that I took lots of photos from the "Places in Transit" album above. Check the album out to see the contrast. Sheesh - They dig fast!
