  Tax time. Sheesh, not looking forward to paying my Australian taxes due at the end of the week! Actually it's the process that's the real killer - so lacking in any creativity!　I'd like to see Dr. Seuss come up with a tax form, maybe a hard cover picture book where you fill out all the numbers to a catchy little song. "Sam I am, doing tax I can, while eating green eggs and ham..." So instead of doing that I've been putting my head deep into the Beijing sand. Trying to enjoy what's left of the memory of autumn before heading inside for winter. Currently deep in rehearsals for the Swiss/Australia/China feature film "Beijing Taxi" 《北京出租车》. Pic is directed by three directors, each helming a separate segment on life in the capital. Has been refreshing to be working with director Qiao Li, who has a very hands-on, character driven approach to the story. We've been doing lots of improvisation, lots of character back-story; "What happened to this guy“, "Why does he do what he does" etc. It's a complete change to local TV where people often joke "排练到底是什么？就拍吧!" What on earth's rehearsals? Just shoot! Is also refreshing to get into some serious art-film stuff after the silliness of 《老外来了》. Speaking of, for those with access to Mainland TV, episode 3 of 《老外来了》 screens tonight at around 9:30pm on CCTV6. Fellow ANDer Thomas Lim guest stars in this one. Help me find excuses not to do my taxes! Maybe I'll do it tomorrow...
