  • Iron Monkey is back!

    Okay, I admit, I haven't blogged much lately. I have been too tired and too busy and, believe it or not, have not wanted to just rant and rave and p*ss all over things.

    Hence, silence.

    Well, add to that the idea that I ought to wait until something good happens in my life.

    [sound of wind, signifying emptiness]

    Yesterday, after teaching, I was hanging around New Town Plaza waiting for some friends to eat dinner. I went into CD Warehouse and was ecstatic to find that Iron Monkey is FINALLY back on DVD in Hong Kong. Even better, it's digitally remastered.

    So now I have 5 versions; US, UK, HK Deltamac, Taiwan (because Angie's on the cover instead of the Monkey), and now the new HK DVD.

    It will be fun in 8-10 years to say to my goddaughter "Hey Winsome. You want to watch a movie where your mother shaves her head and is a boy?"

    Then her mother will kick my ass.

    And Sidney will put it on YouTube as The Godfather vs. Wong Fei Hong: The Irish Monkey gets His Nose Broken.

    But if it makes Winsome laugh, it will be worth it.

    Do you know the ending song of Iron Monkey was sung by Angie?  It's so ... ... well ... ... I think Angie was wise enough to be an actress instead of a singer!!!

    Don't worry about me, Wong Fei Hung is sleeping now!

    i found Iron monkey-Japanese version at the nearest HMV in my town, when i was in japan.
    hehe. why dont u add the Japanese version when u come to Japan... If u want to.. ;)

    She'll be proud of mama. And mama will explain how she beat out boys for the boy's role...cos she was a badass. And that will inspire Winsome some more. ;)

    Funny you mention just this film.  It is next up in my Netflix queue.  I discovered Yu Rong Guong last week and, since this seems to be his magnum opus, it made its way to the top of my queue.  I take it you like this movie? :-)
