On Sunday, we went to D Memorial Park to bai san. We only brought flowers & wine while some others we went with carried roast pork, rice, wine etc. I guess growing up in the western part of the world, this might seem strange to practically lay out a whole meal by the grave. I understand the meaning of respect but could never understand why the meal is carried home afterwards and eaten. This isn't something I've grown accustomed to yet, but I guess it's supposed to bring good luck or something like that?

In the evening, we tried out a new Japanese restaurant. The food was good and the price wasn't bad at all.

I like the idea of Bai San, I don't understand all about it, I never realised the food was brought back home again, but it's nice to see respect given to loved ones long gone.

The food at the new restaurant looks tasty.

i guess it's just so not to waste the food afterwards...but ppl claim after the spirits have eaten, the foods taste less tasty aldy :P

Nice food arrangements.

In-laws only bring a few pastries and wine to bai san. They'll eat the pastries. I watch them eat it. The seagulls sure do have a great feast though.

yea, I guess it is supposed to bring good luck... our family doesn't go bai san, but we bai sun at home so whatever we cook at home, we'll eat it later... hehee...
