I find that people tend to be afraid of change, myself included. Whether it's a huge life-changing event or just a minor deviation from our daily routine.... the unfamiliar feeling that change brings makes us think twice before making the decision. The choices we make everyday affect the way we live our lives.

I remember there used to be this poster at the place I used to work that states life is a journey with lots of twists, bumps and turns. We just have to follow the road and avoid falling off to the side. If we don't follow the curves of the road, we'll just be left behind. I can't remember the words but it was something along those lines.

Sometimes change can be uncertain, where we're at a crossroads... not sure whether to go left or go right. I sometimes feel like my life is a stand still at the crossroads. This uncertainty drives me crazy.... how do I know where to go next or what the future holds? Too scared to move on but unable to go back.

It is times like this that I think back on the footprints story.

The text describes a dream, in which the narrator finds herself walking on a beach with the Lord. Naturally, they leave two sets of footprints in the sand behind them. Looking back, the she understands that the tracks represent various stages of his life. She notices that at some points the two trails dwindle to one, especially at the lowest and most hopeless moments of her life. The woman questions the Lord, believing that the Lord must have abandoned her at those times. The Lord, however, gives the true explanation: 'During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you'.

This gives me hope that I can get through my problems.

I think we all experience this at some point in our lives but you can only go forward, you can't go back. At least you have something to give you strength. Stay positive and hopefully all will work out. You will never know what will happen if you don't cross the road.

yes, life is full of trials and tribulations but we can rely on One who is stronger than we are.

I think we all go through times where we feel like we're at crossroads in our lives... and at those moments, it may feel like we are standing still in the middle with all the opportunities and directions surrounding us...

I think the important things is to be able to change your perspective on situations so that even if something comes along that seems overwhelming and unapproachable, you can always look at it from a point of view that will make the change bearable :)

Yeah I certainly feel like I am at a crossroads right now in my life, and decisions are so hard. I love the 'footprints' verse, it is one of my favourites.

Uncertainty and fear of the unknown is mostly what's behind us not wanting to deviate from our usual routines or ways of doing things. But sometimes when we find we do give something else or some other way a try, we are pleasantly surprised. Hope whatever you're trying to figure out will be solved soon.

wOw... that is a great story... it really explains life...

I think the reason why we find it hard to choose a path when we're at crossroads is because we worry too much about the outcome... if we focus more on the process or the path we are taking and not focus too much on the outcome, maybe the path won't seem as hard...

I hope you'll find your path and don't let it frustrate you.. I know its easier said than done... follow your heart... =)
