    Last night, I left work later than usual.  We had two customers who were enjoying their stay so much that they didn't want to leave.    They saw us close the door and I even tried to hint that we were closed by turning down the music and turning off some of the lights.  Either they didn't get the hints or they chose to ignore it but they continued browsing and chatting.  Eventually, I had to tell them directly that we were closed.  The direct approach is always best, but gosh... I didn't want to seem like I was running them out because they're one of our regulars.  Most people normally would get the hint.... haha, guess they're not most people.

    If they were chatting with each other, then they were probably too engrossed in conversation to notice. I know I become oblivious to my surroundings if I'm deep in conversation with someone.

    Or they could just be clueless. ;P

    yeah, sometimes my patients talk and talk even AFTER the session's over and i've got other patients waiting outside. i usually stand up, smile, walk to the door and open it, saying, "For sure we'll talk about that next week/ time when we meet! You have yourself a great day!"... heehee...

    We used to have to bring metal shutters down on the door and start cashing up the till's to try to get some customers to realise we were closing at my old shop.
    I'm sure your regulars were just caught up in the moment. You had no choice but to tell them

    Lol. maybe they didn't notice it since they're having so much fun w/ what they're doing.
    well, it's okay to give them an extra time since they're your regular customers.

    People these days...you have to be direct. Some of them try to take the advantage and linger around as long as they can. Seriously, it's a safety issue if these customers are in the store after hours. I had a customer tell me once that according to their watch, we should still be opened for another 5 minutes. Ridiculous right?! I told him that we don't do business based on his watch, we have our own time and we are closed so he needs to leave or security will escort him out. Such a pain...but there are interesting people like that in this world :P

    lol I remember I used to have people like that at my families restaurant. They always knew though. We took away the food from the buffets and shut off some of the lights. But kept the music on just cuz we like it. haha But what's there to stay for if there's no food? lol haha

    But ya they should have taken the hint really easily. Sometimes a conversation can really make people go unnotice about their surroundings. This especially goes for people on the cell phone. This happens alot!

    LOL that happened to me last week, I was pissed off beyond belief!!! I mean they were locked inside, then they invited someone in...argh!

    Wow talk about not being able to take a hint.  Maybe you should've asked them to help you shut off the lights.
