I've been watching a lot of HGTV lately.  I think they have a better selection of shows now than before....   I especially like watching "House Hunters" & "Property Virgins".  Both of these show home buyers some houses/apts. and then they decide on one to buy.  I always try to guess which house the person would pick.  Another show that's cool is "If These Walls Could Talk" which show stuffs that people find in their homes after they move in.  I can never understand how people can move away and leave so much things behind.  But it's cool to see what people find.... diaries, photographs, love letters etc. (some very personal stuffs).

I don't think I would leave anything behind if I moved.  Some of the things, although inexpensive, are sentimental to me for various reasons.   Photographs I wouldn't part with, because they capture a moment in time that I'll never get back.  But I guess no matter how sentimental I am about something it's materialistic.... so if I lose it I'll always have my memories.   What things are you guys sentimental about?

HI-Sirendipity I don't like to leave posters or pictures on the walls, and don't like them left either when moving in.Something to do with the past + present vibe or luck superstion, maybe.- Gabsly.

I don't understand how people can leave personal items behind.  It's like a piece of you.  Impersonal things like furniture are a different matter.  For me it would be photos as well and correspondences with friends.

I think I'd have to take my photos. Memories fade and I need those reminders. Hm, lots of things I'd leave behind bc I want them replaced - clothes, dining table, furniture, etc.

We have a similar show to 'house hunters', one is called a house in the country, some of the property is lovely but very expensive.

I fully agree with you about photographs, and I am most sentimental about them. They are the only connection I will have to my past, should my memory fail me. Mostly because when photographs are taken it is usually at happy times in our lives, times when for that moment nothing but the smiles mattered.
