This few years my mummy also prepared steambot for our reunion dinner. A week ago we planned to go out to have dinner to save all the hassle, but end up mummy still decided to prepare steambot. She is getting older, can't really work much already. I felt uneasy to see her prepare and do cleaning for CNY. Specially she was still ill a week ago. No matter what, mummy is the best always. Althought sometimes she will complain but no matter what, she still wanna prepare the best and greatest, yimmiest food for us.

The different between this year and last year is this year all family member get involve in the preparation for the reunion dinner. ^^ Love my kor kor kevin who willing to come home early to help mama too. He really makes mama happy. I am very happy to see all to get things done here. More quickly and more like a family.

We have like almost everything on our table. Seafoods, meat balls, meat, vege, mushroom... A lot until we 1 meal can keep us full until night.

This year the round table got a new member. Although Little Nayomi still can't chew solid food. But she definately a ”喂吃鬼"。Muahaha she bring more laugther to our family specially with her big baloon tummy and adorable facial expression. She having little bit of flu... so she is a bit naughty and cried a lot. But  her granny can always bring her something that makes her smile.  ”喂吃鬼"!!! she keep on eating whole day, can't believe she can stuff so many things inside small little tummy. Hahahaha

To Enigma: This is how steambot looks like ^^

Steamboat is something like shabu-shabu in japanese. But we call it steamboat here. The nice thing about steamboat is all the ppl on the table could put watever dishes into the simmering pot. Then wait for it to cook and all eat together.

My mummy used chicken, fish bone with some mushroom to cook the soup. Some used ready made paste example tomyum or curry paste.

I found wiki explanation here. Mayb this will give u a better understanding about steamboat. ^^

hahaha I don't mind herbs, it's pork I don't eat.  No my family and friends object to going to a restaurant and having to pay to cook your own food. lol  I should just go buy myself one of those hearter type of set ups that you have.  except i'd probably have to buy it from Asia.

<drooling> I heart shabu-shabu! There's no place here that serves it though :( so I only get to have it when I go out to Los Angeles. Oh well... I guess that makes it all the more enjoyable :)

    I'll go with you enigma!

Oh I know shabu-shabu.  I watch a lot of JDrama (T, K, and HK dramas too).  I tried to get a few members of my family to do shabu-shabu.  They looked at me like I grew another head.  I also can't get anyone to go with me to Korean BBQ.
