Suddenly missed my brother. come to think of it.... haven't seen him much since 2001 after I left the states in end of 2000. saw him in 2002 for few days, 2003 for 2 days then 2006, and 2008 for 3 days. Not to mention I went overseas to study at the age of 12, then him to UK. Haven't spent much time with him, then all of a sudden he's married. I never say this to anyone but.... I guess.... I do miss my brother.

The most vivid or real memory I had of him was 1998-1999 where he often stayed out while we studied in Ohio, then Seattle than LA. Even then, I only got to see him like once a month coz he's always out with his friends, where I took my study really seriously...  My GPA was like 3.85-3.9 and his? less than 2. hahahaha..... thank God he fell in love then.. was forced to study hard to graduate. We had lots of fights.... talked like.... once or twice a year for a long long time before... so bad we just completely stopped talking since 2006. We just didn't talk not that we r mad at each other. At least I wasn't. Last month I went on holiday to join my parents, my mum called me and say "When you see your brother, don't ignore him, at least not infront of others ok? Don't let it out in the open!" I was like "WHAT? Why would I ignore him?" That didn't even cross my mind. I guess my ignorance to problems and silence to things gives out a lot of wrong impressions. The fact that I dun call or I dun talk to him does not mean I dun love him, I am mad at him or love him any less.....

Silly parents. Yea... I do miss my bro... Sometimes I feel like I am an only child (else than when I feel mum is not being fair.... how come bro gets everything he wants), not that I get spoilt but the fact that I am always alone.

i agree with Peachey and JasonChau. Time to call bro up!

I also don't see my brother very often either since he's been in school far away for the past 4 years. We barely even talk much online due to our schedules.

However, I always make time to see him when the opportunity comes. Family comes first above anything else, even my company...

Another interesting point is that although I'm younger than him by a few years, I've reversed roles with him. I'm sort of the elder brother now taking care of things for him while he's in school, such as financing his living expenses   and his tuition. Role reversal is odd, but It makes me think of the times when I was younger and he took care of me. Getting my toys or money back from bullies in school, helping me with my homework and making sure I was adding things up correctly. It's interesting though...taking care of the elder while being younger, but it's a good feeling.

Btw, thx for the suggestion on where to purchase an expensive trinket. I told him about it hehe, and I think we're set! Will blog more about that later!

    Hello.
This is probably a good time to give the guy a call. To touch base. It'll probably be awkward after such a long silence. I think I can see why'd he think there were hard feelings between you two esp after not communicating very often in that many years. My bro and I are the same thing. Nothing bad (as adults) has happened but it's totally awkward when we're in each other's company, and I rarely see him. We choose our friends but not our family. heheh.

I really like what JasonChau said. I want to kind of spin off that and just simply say " Love someone like you want to be loved."

Time does fly by quickly. Nowadays, I think it's easier to keep in touch, but perhaps because it's easier (cel phones, email, IM, etc...) I also think we take that for granted. Being an only child and then have 2 kids and watching them interact and play together, it really makes me happy and to hope that they stay close in their many years to come. :)

When I was young I was the only one in the family, and I remember feeling pretty lonely because no one was there to share my things. That was until the age of 8 when I asked my parents 'How come everyone has a brother/sister except me?'.
A year later in '86, my brother was born.

At the time I was expecting a sister. So when my family found out I had a young bro, we were all pretty stunned.

I love my younger brother. He is extremely talented, streetwise and smart. Yes we do have the occasional fights and arguments, even when we are playing online together but you realise that's the whole idea of having a family. It's not normal if you don't have the odd argument or two. You have differences of opinion and often you learn from the others perspective. To always think you are right because you are older is also not right either. One thing I have learnt through having my brother is learning to be tolerant of others opinion, even if you do not like them or not . You learn to appreciate other different people around you, and accept who they are. Because it is their difference in opinion which makes your world special.

Another thing I have also learnt is that despite what others say about happiness, it doesn't actually cost a penny/dime to have. I am often saddened when people argue with their family over petty things - they cannot seem to see relationship with a brother/sister is a very unique privilege. Love can always be received when you are happy, but what is more important is not always thinking you must receive love, but whether you are willing to give it out. Love that is given out shall always return.

There is the Chinese proverb 'Even if we get beaten to death we never leave our closest brother'. You should learn to cherish that relationship with your brother. It isn't something that comes often.

i don't have a sibling so I can't completely understand what it is like to have a sibling.  In fact, my father didn't even want to be a father and forced my mom to get an abortion.  If my mom never had an abortion, I'd be somebody's little brother by now.

You should be thankful that you even have a brother.  The pressures of being the only child when a parent dies is a huge headache for me.
