    I was just asked again, what is my favorite book and when I said The Holy Bible ... The next question is what did you like about it, what part?

    I love every part of it!
    I do have two books that I particularly like: The Book of Ecclesiastes and The Book of Psalms.

    The book of Ecclesiastes are writings from a real historical man named King Solomon (son of King David) who had everything you could possibly imagine! I've been amazed at the depth and meaning each time I pick them up and read them!!

    The Book of Psalms is incredibly soothing and one of my favorites is Psalm 23.

    King David's words are often used in movies, theatricals, funerals and you read them in your spare moments. I've always read these words before any major event or appearance.

    I've included the full copy of my first international paper submitted over a decade ago. It shows you that no matter what walk of life you come from the Bible's words are applicable and quite amazing. I learned to speak a different language understood by only my scientific community. My feelings of excitement were difficult to describe as a young man. I could call up my high school friends and family in Asia but they wouldn't really know what I had to do to get here. It didn't matter, I was overjoyed. But this would be a fleeting moment, like all the material things that get stashed into corner. 1997-1998 was a like a blur to me. Everything was happening so fast!

















































    Has a lot really changed? If you look at 1997, the Dow Jones Industrial Averages was also around 8,000. I was just starting out into the workforce. Little did any of us know that 12 years later, we would be back at 8,000! And in 1997, we unemployment was much lower than it is now. And when people ask can it go lower? Perhaps reading the whole book of Ecclesiastes will help you determine that answer ...










    I wonder what other religions say ...
    King Solomon had studied all kinds of religions in his life and came to this conclusion.
    How interesting! =D

    Psalm Chapter 23 (Ref: New International Version):

    A psalm of King David.

    1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
    2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
    3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
    4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
    5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
    6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

    Ecclesiastes Chapter 1 (Ref: New International Version):
    Everything Is Meaningless

    1 The words of the Teacher, son of David, king in Jerusalem:
    2 "Meaningless! Meaningless!" says the Teacher. "Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless."
    3 What does man gain from all his labor at which he toils under the sun?
    4 Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever.
    5 The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises.
    6 The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course.
    7 All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again.
    8 All things are wearisome, more than one can say. The eye never has enough of seeing, nor the ear its fill of hearing.
    9 What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.
    10 Is there anything of which one can say, "Look! This is something new"? It was here already, long ago; it was here before our time.
    11 There is no remembrance of men of old, and even those who are yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow.

    Wisdom Is Meaningless

    12 I, the Teacher, was king over Israel in Jerusalem.
    13 I devoted myself to study and to explore by wisdom all that is done under heaven. What a heavy burden God has laid on men!
    14 I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
    15 What is twisted cannot be straightened; what is lacking cannot be counted.
    16 I thought to myself, "Look, I have grown and increased in wisdom more than anyone who has ruled over Jerusalem before me; I have experienced much of wisdom and knowledge."
    17 Then I applied myself to the understanding of wisdom, and also of madness and folly, but I learned that this, too, is a chasing after the wind.
    18 For with much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge, the more grief.

    Gordon,

    I have not replied to your mail about the "Christians" you mentioned.  To me, what is important lies in the intention, our actions and behaviour which should glorify God and not self.

    Besides the book of Ecclesiastes and Psalms, I also like Romans as I feel the love of God with every mention of salvation being extended to the gentiles.  

    I cling on to Galatians for the fruits of the Spirits and remind myself on a daily basis to be watchful of my behaviour.  

    Knowing God and fearing Him is true wisdom.  May the love and peace of God always be with you.

    Well pomegranates, according to Greek legend, came from Hades. So if you ate it you went there. Hades fell in love with Persephone on one of his rare trips to the surface, but she did not love him, he really wanted her so he tricked her into eating a pomegranate so she had no choice but to go with him. The only reason why she was able to come back to Earth was because her mum went to Zeus and begged him to make Hades send her back. But seeing as though she ate the fruit of Hades she still had to return, so for half of the year (which was the cold months of no harvest) was when Persephone was in the Underworld and the warmer months (the other half of the year) of growth and harvest was when Persephone was on Earth with her mother. Her mother, Demeter was the Goddess of grain and fertility.

    So to get to Hades, you either had to be dead or you ate a pomegranate from the garden of Hades, where they were said to have come from. Persephone was not dead and could not enter Hades. Hades was the only one that at will could leave and return as he wished though he hardly ever did because he was supposed to stay there as that was his realm. So, the only way she could eat it was on Earth.

    Joanne, it is extremely complicated. We all speak so many tongues and there is only one Creator. I guess everyone is trying to find favor and it has turned into a popularity contest. Human traits and desires will cause these kind of problems. Interestingly, too much education will cause you to speak in different tongues too ... what a coincidence! heheehe

    Hey Saturn, you're encouraged to make your comments. It helps us all to decipher and gain direction. In response to your comment about the fruit of Hades -yes, it is wonderful and healing. Greek mythology says that if we eat it we stay in Hades but what if we eat it on Earth ... hmm, wonder what it will do then? =D

    And I thought this blog was going to be about Monty Python and The Meaning of Life, it's a really funny movie.

    If I was to comment on The Bible it would incite a riot so I'll keep my thoughts to myself. A lot of people don't like heathen views on such material, and seeing I'm an atheist (one of the worst kind), which to some it's akin to Satanism I'll just leave it at that.

    I finished re-reading a book authored by a filipino writer. The book's title is Ang Paboritong Libro ni Hudas (Judas' Favorite Book). There's one particular point that the author made me really remember; he asked why people with different religions have to quarell when all of us are worshipping the same Being. We call Him different names but our hearts believe in only one Him.
