    OMG! Remember the hopscotch? I remember I used to play that a lot during recess time at school... either in the morning and/or lunch time... then my friends got into the Chinese jump rope... wOw, what memories I have of it... I was never the really good one b/c I had the chubby legs as compared to my friends... so I was usually the last pick for teams... hmm... I wanna try the hopscotch and Chinese jump rope again... hahaa... (before they came out with the "official" Chinese jump rope, I remember we had to make our own by connecting rubber band to rubber band... and my mom used to wonder where all the rubber bands went.. hahaa...) OH! the good times... how nice it was to be a kid... *sigh*

    I loved hopscotch., everything was more rewarding when we had to make our own versions of the latest craze too. Kids of today miss the plain old fun we had.

    awww... u're taking me back down memory lane. we used to play jacks (home made w/ orange peels or buttons. my mom would yell at me for using up her buttons..heehe) hopscotch and chinese jumprope. i also made mine with rubberbands. then 'upgraded' to elastics bands loop. same as peachy described... ankle, calf, knee, hip, waist, underarms, neck, head, and finally sky (where u raised ur whole arm straight). oh so much fun. *sigh*

    Yep, I totally remember playing hopscotch and Chinese jumprope! I was like you, had to go around collecting as many rubberbands as I could find. I remember being so exciting to find a pile of rubber bands on the sidewalk that the postman had apparently dropped. haha!

    Oh, I remember playing those!  We called it Chinese Skip instead of Chinese jump rope.  Is that the same thing?

    Yup, same here.  Did you use ice plant as the marker?  I think I still have my rubber band Chinese jump rope somewhere!  I would play those two games over dodge ball any day!  I dreaded those rainy days!  Sigh, the good old days!

    wow, memories!! we called it jumpsies hahhaa dunno where that came from but I remember the boys would always try to bother us by jumping into our serious games without being invited !! hahhaaa  How about double dutch with 2 long jump ropes?? Now that was my favorite!! :D

    I played hopscotch, jacks and the Chinese jump rope too. All the time. Then it was replaced with four-square. Then when you get older, it wasn't cool to "play" anything.

    When I didn't have enough rubber bands to make my rope, I'd do the knotting with one rubber band at a time. When I did have plenty, I'd do the folding of each rubber band, so it was a bit stronger. Did you do that too?

    Also got into the real Chinese jump rope, where you have the rope that's closed off in a loop. Start with it on your ankles, then knee, thigh, hip, etc. Fun!

    oh whats Chinese jump rope, sounds intriguing.  I was gangly as a kid and never very good at hopscotch, jump rope or elastics.

    I totally remember playing hopscotch during lunch hour in the yard.  I used to love Chinese jump rope too.  I remember making a jumprope or  two with the rubberbands.  They can't come out with an official one.  The rubber bands are cool!   Did you play Chinese jacks and jacks too?  We were usually relegated to that when it rained outside.  I wanna go outside and play now :D

    I love the hopscotch! Heehee. On warm summer nights, I draw one on the pathway at my parent's house. I make my sisters play w/me...they all think I'm crazy. Good laughs.
