oh it was an extremely long day today... mixed with many different things...
woke up to go to Kaiser with my mom for her 8:30am appointment... finished with her checkup and lab work around 10:30... b/c she had to draw blood, she couldn't eat breakfast (so I didn't either...) both of us were starving and wanted coffee so went to Starbucks... then went to the bank, then back to Kaiser for my mom's eye appointment... her insurance plan doesn't cover for glasses, so we went to Lenscrafters instead (but why are glasses so darn expensive? almost $200 just for lenses... not including the frame), afterwards we went to Home Depot, then to Nordstrom Rack (found an orange color simple card wallet.. for only $9.97) starting to find things I might need for my trip to HK... then we went to Elephant Bar for lunch... then went to Orchard's (OSH), and then Office Depot and then went home and then off to bowling and here I am now... tired... hahaa...

the whole day I had a really really bad headache probably the worst I've ever had...

but bowling was fun tonight... got to bowl with the fun people... it was a night full of laughs and jokes...

when my mom had to draw blood I was sitting in the waiting area and thinking... my gosh, what am I gonna do when I get older or when it comes time they need to draw blood from me? they'd probably have to knock me out completely... b/c I am really really scared of needles/blood... which is why I don't give my grandma insulin everyday...

what are the best ways to overcome fears like this? *err*

I have the same fear as you. I'm scared of needles, and I can not bear to watch needle being injected into someone, anyone, but especially myself. And there's no way I'd be able to give anyone else a shot. I'd probably faint. =P Good thing I'm not a nurse or doctor. haha

sorry but I think there is no best way to overcome this fear ,thats why I try to stay away from my doctor Just take really good care of yourself.

remember to breathe!!!
a patient asked me that question today as i did intravenous therapy on her. she looked away and said, 'you're so brave. i can't look at that.'
i told her, 'when i'm the patient, i don't look either! now remember to breathe!' (she was holding her breath, which increases the anxiety/ nervousness)!!! =)

When it comes down to your well being, you should be able to get over your fear. I've never liked needles and still don't despite having to get regular blood tests. The needles these days aren't so big. They can use butterfly needles which are really thin. You just look away and it's like a pinch really. If little kids can do it, so can you Jane.

oh gosh..I hate needles...but I still have to endure those suckers.

Just don't look at the needle and look away from the arm that they're going to insert it into. then count from 1 to 10 or til whenever it's over.

If it's not a good nurse it'll hurt really badly cuz they got you in the muscle, but otherwise it should be okay.

Ya I know what you mean by the whole $200 frames....so expensive....

that reminds me, i need new frames..hehe

I overcame my fear by thinking of something else and just not paying attention to when they would poke me with the needle. Just calm yourself down and relax!

I agree..for a piece of glass, metal and plastic parts - they are quite expensive...

I hate needles too. If I have to get an injection or draw blood, I look the other way when they're inserting the needle. Usually it not as bad as I think it will be.

Fear of needles? Can't overcome it when it comes to your medical health. I do not fear needles after all I've gone through. Ya just gotta go right into it. Close your eyes.

Walmart has cheaper lenses and frames. Have gone to Lenscrafters before and their prices aren't that great.

I think fear of needles is one of the most common nowadays, but I've noticed that the older we get the more we tend to lose our fears, i don't think you will worry about it when you get older. Perhaps in the meantime, you could attempt to pick up the insulin pack, get used to the feeling, and then watch as your gran receives the injection.Of course these are big steps that must be taken at your own pace though. maybe do an action plan of steps to take.
