haven't done a bowling entry in awhile... hahaa...

this past Friday was the Don Johnson Memorial Tournament where we (amateur bowlers) get to bowl with the pro bowlers. Part of the income goes to charity to help kids with diabetes. And this year was it's biggest turn-out ever. They sold about US$2,700+ worth of raffle tickets!!! That's awesome!!!

Anyway, it was an awesome night (despite having to bowl with someone I dislike). I bowled my best 3 games for my highest series ever. Total of 9 people on a pair of lanes and only my mom and I were girls on our lanes. In the first game I bowled the highest score on our pair of lanes behind the pro bowler!!! WOOHOO!!! Start off with a 214 game, then 217, and finally a 194. It would have been perfect if they were all 200 games, but I'm happy! haha... I'll slowly work on getting three 200 games.

So with combined scores from the pro bowlers (they change lanes after each game), I actually came in 6th place out of 65 bowlers in the tournament. So I won some money!!! and so did my mom!! She came in 7th place!! I finally beat my mom!! hahaa... actually out of the 8 people who were awarded a prize fund, 4 of them were from our pair of lanes... that's really good!! Here's my Certificate of Participation!!

Then on Saturday night, they held a "Sponsors Bowling Night" and we were invited to bowl with the pros again. But bowling didn't start until almost 9pm so we didn't bowl. But they raffled off some more prizes again and we finally won something!! We won the last prize: the bowling shirt right off of the pro bowler, Jimmy Johnson! And he autographed it along with 2 other pro bowlers.

Tony Reyes (I mentioned him in my blogs before),
Robert Smith (who was pulled outta the bar to come out to sign the shirt for us)
Jimmy Johnson (son of Don Johnson)

Actually I already got all their autographs on my Certificate of Participation! hahaa... but I don't mind the shirt... hahaa... nice memory!

Thursday will be the start of the winter league. I hope I can bowl good but not too good because I want to keep my average lower so when I bowl in tournaments I can get more handicap points! hahaa... but anyhow, to start off the winter league, give me some strikes!

I used to bowl a lot, had my own ball, bag, etc. I never got up to the scores you get. When I was bowling all the time & at my best my average got up into the mid 160's. I thought I was hot stuff haha. Not!!

Congrats on placing 6th & here's hoping you get the scores you're aiming for. :)

Ah, Jane....the bowling force was with you during this tourney! Congrats!!! What a positive experience. You should bowl more often with people you dislike as your score seems to improve! Just don't go over to the dark side. haha! =)

It's awesome that so much money was raised for a good cause. Win-win!!!

I used to love to bowl but the cigarette smoke drove me away. I should try it again. But I don't think I'll ever be in your league Jane. You're getting really good. Do you think you have pro in you? A girl can dream.
