everyday we wake up to a new day without knowing what may happen that day or who we will meet... I guess that's what makes life interesting... *shrugs*

last night my mom went out to dinner and happen to bump into my old friend... a friend whom I haven't seen or heard from for over 3-4 years, probably... she said Hi to my mom and I guess they chatted for a little bit... and today I get an email from this friend, A. I've decided that I won't be replying to her email b/c there isn't much for me to say... but I'm not mentally prepared to be friends with A, again... there were a lot of things that happened in our friendship and 3-4 years ago she decided to leave the friendship... so be it... she got a boyfriend and there goes our friendship... so I guess you can say that I am bitter about it... mainly because I knew A since elementary school and it sucks that she chose her boyfriend over friends when seriously, she could have kept both... (we didn't mind her boyfriend) *shrugs*

anyway... what I'm trying to say is that no matter how well physically prepared we are for the day, we can never be mentally prepared... does that make sense? anyway... another example... I think 2-3 years ago I went out to dinner with my mom and again bump into an old friend from middle school who also decided to leave the friendship after going to college... so needless to say I was surprised and "embarrassed" when I saw her b/c I blanked out with her name... a situation I call awkward...

it's a very weird feeling to see old friends who I was once very close to and now like complete strangers... it's a stressful feeling, for a lack of better word...

Did this person verbally leave the friendship? If so that sucks. If you guys just drifted apart because of her new boyfriend I wouldn't be bitter about it....unless of course he hated you! =)

Yes it's tough to be mentally prepared when unexpected things happen.  Friendships fade for different reasons but it really sucks when girls choose guys over their friends. I will never understand  why the two are mutually exclusive for some people.

Yeah it's tough when friends use as as the  'there when needed' type, and I think you have chosen the right way to deal with it, friendship is a two way street, but so many try to make it one way. You have good friends, stick with them. I do agree that seeing best buddies now complete strangers is an awkward and quite sad feeling.

We all have one or two or few of these type of friends in our life time.  I am like you, I don't bother to return their email or calls once I realize I am just their filler.

I totally understand what you mean ~~ sometimes I don't understand people and the choices that they make...esp with friends - i feel like people easily hurt others without thinking that it's a big deal.  The best thing to do is move on if there are no plans to get back on that friendship train lol...so cornyyyy  =P

hmmm...it is a difficult choice; especially when it's been that long. i'm facing the situation now. one of my close friends is constantly declining getting together cuz she's got something planned w/her bf - i think myself and the rest of her friends knew this would happen so everyone is just letting it be. we're all waiting for the time when she'll come around and nag us to hang out again :P but what are friends for? forgive/forget...let's just get along.

maybe you can just talk or send email once in a while just to check her well-being. it doesn't hurt to be polite...who knows, this might lead to a new chapter of friendship.

It's definitely hard, even if we tell ourselves that we don't care...

Sometimes, the easiest thing to do is to pretend you don't know the person...

i kno of ppl i used to know that i bumped back later in life. it was never like we end our friendship right there right then. we gradually went our own separate ways whether it's different elementary, middle, or high school.
i guess it depends if u still value ur friendship or not. when a bumped back into a friend of mine, whom i havent seen in a long time, i think of it as a second chance... it's like we started down the same road together, then there's a fork in the road (i.e. moving far away, diff schools,), she took the left lane and i, the right. years after, we merge back to one lane; the moment where wesaw each other again. the different experiences and situations one goes thru without the other person and catching up are the "pieces" that'll complete the puzzle or the picture.
sorry, for the long blah blah... but i'll treasure that second chance.

I know what you mean. Several times people would go "Hey 'name', how's it going? I look at them and think "who in the world?" lol...By that time I know I don't care what happened in the past.

Yeah, needless to say, regardless of how long it's been, it's still hard on people mentally. Decisions decisions....

I rarely see people I used to know. Disloyalty is something hard to overcome for some. No need to return her inquiry. She prolly just wants to satisfy her curiosity.

    aw hon *hugs*
    I know what you mean.
I said goodbye to a friend from Aussie on Monday (over for our school reunion) and on Tuesday when she rang me to wish me happy birthday, I burst into tears - at work!!  Ppl kept asking me if it was my mum.  doh.  I agree, emotional readiness is a tougher road than physical readiness.
