before going into my new goal, look at the beautiful moon from last night... it actually looks better on the camera screen b/c the screen is smaller. Looking at it from my computer looks blurry... but I like how it's so clear and you can see all the details. kinda cool.

So, my new goal... I want to learn how to ride a bike.   I actually don't know how to ride a bike.
(and I feel embarrassed and ashamed that I can't ride a bike) when I was a kid, I rode a bike with the training wheels and never got out them.  well, anyway... I think I have a problem with balancing myself. Any suggestions for me? How was it for you to learn how to ride a bike?

I think u just need to get over the falling thing... I'm not a pro either but I am ok riding along trails where there is no crazy traffic LOL start learning in places where there is no traffic =) oh use bikes where u can reach the floor with your feet just in case u need to come to an emergency stop.... Good luck!

    This looks really cool!
Good luck with the bike riding.  Remember to wear a helmet.  I never learned cause I've always loved in the city.  I should have Mr. B teach me one of these days.

it was pretty easy when i learned to ride the bike.. and don't worry about it.. my tip to you is when you're on the bike.. look forward.. instead of trying to balance.. and just ride away

well my dad made my training wheels uneven, so then it would go from one side to the other. Eventually started to balance myself out.

The best thing to do is not panic, that would just get you into more trouble when you're on a bike. Best way to stop is just pop right off it with the bike between your legs, you'll come to a full stop. If something isn't right or you don't feel right, just pop right off of it.

    1) comfortable in your riding stance or seat
    2) make sure you're in an area away from trash bins, mail boxes, etc...for your own safety..haha
    3) helmet and safety guards especially when trying to learn

that's all I can come up with. Good luck Jane! =)

Like JRS said, keep your feet on the ground to keep your balance.  Push yourself around like that until you get the steering down and you can coast for a bit and learn how to use the brakes.  then put a foot on a pedal, and then another.  And there's no reason to fall repeatedly because you know you can throw your feet out.  I just got a bike and it took a while to remember how to ride, weird.

    Good luck!

In terms of suggestions, just try to keep your weight balanced with your shoulders and sit upright, but not too upright (unless the seat height allows you to comfortably).

try to pedal a bit hard to gain some momentum, as sometimes pushing too soft will lead you to lose balance if your not used to getting it yet. the best bet is to work up to pedaling like 2-3 times and allowing yourself to coast. once you get the hang of it, try pedaling more!

    good luck! =D

i didnt learn how to ride a bike until i was 13! haha. I actually taught myself finally. I think one of the first time I tried riding was when I was 7 and I crashed into a gate and never had the courage to get back on. Until 13! why then? cuz all of my friends rode around town, and as fast as I was, I couldn't keep up all the time! haha. But at least it lead to crazy stamina! =P Anyway, I taught myself in my back alley and after many bumps and bruises, I got the hang of it in about a week. yay me! Now I ride my bike anywhere and in just about in any weather. =D

Oh the moon is beauutiiiffullll!! I barely saw it during Mid-Autumn. It was raining badly.

Oh how I learnt it was, I had my cousin pushing me from behind and I went paddling one way. Went on for a couple times until I slowly started to make small turns. Remember to have loads of protective gears on. Do not rush and RELAX!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!

    I like this picture!

It's great you're giving it another go with riding a bike. I had no luck whatsoever with training wheels, couldn't find my balance with them on so I just went for it.

I tipped over a ton of times till I found my 'seat', which for me was sort of finding the balance more in my butt & steering & kind of letting my legs pump on their own.

Yeah, find a flat place with some privacy & go for it lol. Good luck! :)

    wow,such a beautiful moon.

I learned when i was 4 or 5.......the suggestiong is keep riding when you sitting on the bike and being relax to control your direction, then you'll find your balance.

I learned when I was 6 I think...piece of cake!  Never did the training wheel thingy, though....it was either do or die!

As an adult, the best piece of advice I could give you is to remember that you can always stick your feet out for balance (except if you're going fast).  And don't wear baggy pants 'cause they'll get caught in the bike chain.

    Learn, girl!  It's fun!!!!  =)

I learned to ride when I was pretty young - my suggestion is that you start with one of those cruiser bikes - lower to the ground and easier to steer than a mountain bike :)
