first of all... I
want to thank everyone who actually answered to my "Fill in the blank"
blog... I was expecting someone to just tell me to look on their
profile in the "about" section...
but you are all very lovely people who took the time to fill in the blanks so we can all get to know each other better...
Thank YOU!!!
just a short explanation on my new profile pic... that was taken Dec. 31, 2001 (new year's eve to 2002)... a bunch of my friends were messing around at my house that night and we all took a pic with my orange wig... my friends made me do it... hahaa...
when thinking about this obsession for orange, it reminded me of something that happened in high school... orange became my favorite color in high school... I had a pair of jeans that had a strip of orange that went down the sides and I had orange shoes (seriously, the whole shoe was orange), and of course I had my orange t-shirts... I had orange sweatshirts/jackets... I was literally known as the orange girl in high school... when looking back into my yearbook, people who signed had something to mention about my orange thing... hahaa...
but sometime, don't remember exactly when, this other girl, C, started wearing a lot of orange too... she was also known as the orange girl... people thought we were competing to see how much orange we had...
seriously it was nothing of it... (although it felt like I was being challenged
) for our senior prom, of all the people who went... only C and I were wearing orange dresses... but not much attention was put into that... so thank goodness for that...
but I think a year or two after graduation, I receive a phone call from a few friends saying C had passed away... I was really really shocked... she was ill and never woke up from her sleep...
but it was right around Chinese New Year and a few of my good friends didn't want to attend the funeral... but something in me felt like I just had to go... C and I were never close nor did we talk much... but regardless, she was someone we all knew from high school; we should pay our respects to her... I still remember that day... I asked my friend if I should wear a little orange somewhere since that was C's favorite color... but after much debate, I decided not to because it would seem as though I was trying to claim that color and it seemed like I was disrespecting C and her family... (I feel a little childish now I think about it...) but they gave us orange ribbons at the funeral anyhow...
I still remember that day, my friend dropped me off (and honestly I was rather upset that none of my other friends went...) so I went alone but there were a lot of people from high school there... something interesting though... C and I shared the same last name... and after the funeral I learned that our birthdays were only a day apart... I think her birthday is August 3rd and mine was the 4th...
this memory just popped into my head again from the orange pictures and from looking thru my yearbook again... it's kinda sad to see the friends we've lost... and friends who have changed... but I guess this is all part of life and learning...
Goodbyes are not forever.
Goodbyes are not the end.
They simply mean I'll miss you
Until we meet again.
