Back to the Beach

Not this past weekend, but the weekend before, we went to the beach for the first time since the Oil spill in the Bay. We went back to the same beach at Crissy Fields. Saturday was the first real warm/hot day in SF. Sunday was sunny, but a bit windy. We invited another family so the kids can play. It was nice, not as crowded, I guess because there were other activities going on in the Bay Area.

There was some sailing event going on, with lots of sailboats maneuvering around buoys placed at several locations in the bay.

After sitting around for about 15 minutes, we noticed that there this infestation of ladybugs.

They were everywhere and flying around and landing all over the place. Our little boy did not like them at all. Everyone else was OK with them as they were just ladybugs. I hate bugs and if bees were around, I’d be out of there!

We noticed a pair on one of the sand buckets…one on top of another in rhythmic movement. The kids were like “What are they doing?” I told them that they were “wrestling”. I must have missed the Discovery Channel episode, but I didn’t think bugs did that.

Overall, it was a fun day...got a little sunburn...didn't think it was going to happen. I should know better.
